gers you must have an interesting job, as you seem to go all over the place. you must spend a fortune on petrol. I have no sense of direction at all even with a sat nav so i would never find where i was going :o

Thanks - yes, my job is interesting and my travels are fairly extensive but I do get expenses so am not out of pocket. My trip down to York the other day was lovely, the sun was out and it was great to be driving.

Today was to mentor a new coach and it was a real pleasure, if a tad early and a tad rainy!

Sat navs are my salvation, they're not fool-proof and I sometimes stop and ask but the main stuff makes travelling so much more stress free.

Was thinking of NPM today as I was planning the music I'd like for my funeral :o - no, not thinking of dying yet, or even having any reason to think of it but suppose that the recent death of MSD and my friend (last month) made me realise that unless I decide then someone else will. I'm probably going to offend someone, so sorry in advance, but I'd hate to have certain songs played (anything by Eva Cassiday for instance) and would be birling in my coffin it if happened! So, I've had a great time this afternoon searching my collections and playing old forgotten songs. I'd love this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niTAEqOCvRs but am so not religious (more of the Richard Dawkins/Ian McEwan persuasion) so can't pick it! :)

Now off to friends for a jolly evening :j Happy Saturday evening everyone.
  • Evening everyone, I'm a newbie poster, so be kind to me.

Great to have read today's post. Most people's saturdays seem to pan out like mine.

Work every other saturday, so today consisted of a local coffee morning, followed by food shopping yawn, yawn!!!!!

Came home to put away shopping and put a loaf of soft grain bread in my newly acquired bread maker.

Sitting here watching last week's Hairy Bikers programme. So many old style recipes. Cooking with dock leaves, bizarre. Pastry made with lard and pineapple upside-down-pudding. I can feel a bit of reminisent cooking coming on.

Looking forward to getting involved with this thread.

    Have a good evening everyone.

cranky I can believe how some Grannies just seem to not be interested. My DD's ma-in-law insisted that the children called her Linda and not granny or Nan and to my knowledge all five of the children have never been near her house even though she only lives half an hour away. She sees them for half and hour maybe once every three months but really doesn't seem to be that bothered about them. They are smashing kids and I adore them all. This morning after my night of granchildsitting I was woken by the youngest who crept in and slid in beside me trying not to waken me up I knew he was there so I just turned over and gave him a cuddle .One contented sigh and he was back off to sleep. Then around 7 the other two came in and seeing Mikey snuggled up in bed with me jumped in as well.So weall had a lovely cuddle this morning and it was maryland cookies all round by 7.10.a.m.There is nothing nicer than getting a hug from a little person who thinks you are the bestest gran in the world. My grandkids light up my life for me and are the greatest legacy I have I think ,along with my two DDs.
My DD came home from London this afternoon having had a fantastic time with her OH and said the Phantom of the Opera was just great ,so I'm looking forward to seeing it in April. She brought all the kids home a little something from London and for me she brought a lovely tin of ground coffee from Fortnums as a special treat. She is a lovely lass and was full of her expolits at the theatre and her and Simons weekend which has done them the world of good to have a night away from the tribe. The kids all were very good and this morning Henry 99) was picking up all the bits and pieces from the sitting room and Jack(10) was hoovering round after him .Ben (15) hung out the washing and Mikey (6)lined up all the school shoes for Monday morning and got all the school bags together They all like to help out bless them
I just popped up to the green grocers and bought some fruit and veg and some milk and eggs so I haven't any shopping to get for a couple of days.I have to make a valentines card for Jack for his little lass who he is keen on at school so I will be rummaging around in my craft box tonight.
Apart from that all's well in my world ,I have a mediterranean pasta meal for dinner tonight, lots of veggies with a nice thick tomatoey sauce from the freezer
    Have a good evening everyone

Welcome to the newbies, sounds like you are in the right place with your pizzas and reduced price stretchy pork, not sure about the dock leaves though - let us know the results, I have loads in the garden. J
Chicken with sauce, chips & salad for DH, DD, 3DGSs and me. The red onion in the salad was home grown. The 6 of us will have roast lamb tomorrow. Lo lamb will be made into Rogan Josh with hm spice mix and put in the freezer.

sistercas have you looked online for your wallpaper, I wanted some for my kitchen last year that was over £40 a roll, and found it online for £12.99, and recently got the paper for my hallway for £35 for nine rolls as they were the end of a batch, £22 per roll quoted in the wallpaper shop!

I also dont understand the MIL, But maybe its because the DGS reminds her too much of her own little boy It maybe still be too raw for her.

You see the thing with mothers is, That little boys always stay there little boys while there little girls become mothers themself.

What ever it is with the MIL i do hope that she sorts herself out gets her act together are starts to she her DGS for both there sakes as she his a link to his dad. When he is older this will be inports to him.

    All the best:A
