If you want to keep your wheelybin in the nice bland grey that the council provides why not just pimp the wheels. Our binwheels have spokes and recesses,- put anything that will make a noise in these recesses (cats bells, rattles from childrens toys, pebbles etc.) Then stick on paint tin lids the wrong way round to make wheel trims -I found lids from 1 Litre tins fit perfectly inside the wheel rims. These "trims"can be decorated with old paint or stickers. You'll be able to identify your bin, you might just hear your bin being stolen or hear which one of your neighbours wheels it out on collection day.
