  • Afternoon folk,

Not been in to work past few days hence why no posts have been made.
OH went galovanting off the the olmpics whilst I was left with the little terrors.

The gate should be finished and installed in the next week or two. Touch wood.

Planning on using our national trust passes a bit more than we have been so Belton house looks next on our list.

MSE front not really any great strides have been made, I have some copper coins to pay in but we are only talking a few pounds worth.

  • Forgot to say before DD2 has had her latest MRI scan, so we had a full day waiting in the hospital for her slot. Should have the results in 2 or 3 weeks to see if the scaring on her brain has improved/stayed the same or got worse.

Don't think I have mentioned it before but the OH is expecting again, its still only early days mind. So I need to step up my search for a cleaner, just all I seem to find charged over £10 an hour whereas our works cleaner is just £7.00. Shame she doens't have the time to do our house too. I had wanted them to do 3 hours per week but if I can only find the dearer option then i guess 2 hours per week will have to surfice.

I have emailed the jewelers who want to bring the OH in for a measurement since I have decided to go for the custom made ring.

Congratulations! Keeping fingers crossed for your daughter and your OH.

When I was looking at cleaners, I found that if I went through an agency I was paying a total of £10 an hour, but the cleaners were only receiving £6.50 or £7, which may be why your work cleaner is getting £7.

I decided to go direct and found a cleaner who I pay £9ph, although it was a bit of a challenge finding her.

I live in outer London, so £10ph direct seems a lot, tbh.

Yeah I think I will give another go at trying to get our works cleaner to come do our house instead of work. I know she was considering giving it up end of the year anyway.

Cheers MCI, yeah it should be that little bit different. I've emailed them to arrange a measurement. Should have the full funds at next pay day., plus the Jeweler even mentioned she was sure she could negotiate on the price. So if I get it for £4,300 i'd be happy.

New front gates are coming this Saturday.

My next little "mini-project" is the attic. I am going to fit a drop down ladder and board it for storage.

  • Morning all,

I have added my next fund which is for the guttering. Everytime there is heavy rain our drive has flooded and last week my garage did too. Initially it was due to the surface water running down the main road and then down our drive, I have subsequently found a drain halfwya down the hill (it hasn't been touhced in years as it had maybe a 5 inch layer of grass and mud).

But even having cleared that it still floods, and I noticed that our main guttering leaks onto our porch roof so effectively 50% of the rain on our roof is diverted straight in down by our front door. So I need this sorting really (in truth I also need the drains rodding).

Cut the front lawns last night and took the grass to work, need to do the back lawn tonight and will take more cuttings to work in the morning.

Have a busy weekend coming up with the FIL & MIL staying over to fit the front gate. Was due for a fitting at the Jewellers but its going to be too tight timewise so will have to be done later.

Off camping next week Monday to Friday so fingers crossed for good weather.

  • Hi all,

Just got back from camping for a week to find a letter from tax credits, seems after last years income I need to repay them £3000, so there goes the ring fund....
Great start to the week haha.

Gates are up and look great, just need to put some mesh up as DD2 pushes her way through the trees to bypass the gates....grrr
