Hi LP, sorry to hear you've had so many dramas over the last few months. Welcome back! I hope the tiles coming off the roof are an aberration, and 2012 is lots better than 2011 for you!

    Hi Sepa,

    Thanks for those kind words.

All in all 2011 wasn't such a bad year for us, we always look to the positives. We have a new house, three children and my job is secure. In these times things could be alot worse.

Having said that I hope to reach my target this year, just as long as my OH stops having ideas on decoration. She had been doing these Jamie Oliver@ home parties. She did enough parties to cover her two kits, so now we have £600 worth or kitchen bits and bobs, half of which I don't know what they are used for..

The kids have had that many toys and presents over xmas (Both me and OH are only children so the grandparents spoil the grandchildren). I think this weekend I need to have a garage clearout and ebay/NCT sale some of the older toys that are no longer used (we have managed to collect four prams even....)

Oh some other goods news our small village has a scheme where a wealth benefactor some years ago died and left his fortune in a charity which supports children of the village. This means any activities we do be it swimming, nursery, uni fees then the charity contributes towards it. So we received a cheque for £160 for last years nursery. Paid that into the bank and come 20-25th I should be making the next OP

  • I have just switched energy suppliers from British Gas to Npower. 0.11939 per kwh to 0.09 per kwh so should say me £100-£150 a year, plus £10 cashback from quidco.

  • Well had the quote in for the ridge tiles its £370, so getting that done this month.

Forgot to say that we have our first summer holiday planned for which we still have £1500 to pay within the next couple of months. Kids first taste of going abroad, so need to take care of passports, insurance for DD2 etc. Should be the last abroad holiday for a couple of years as OH is still pestering for a 4th kiddy..... im resisting so far.

Did a little money saving over the weekend, my old dear cut my hair and i sorted some bits and bobs in the garage into two piles; an ebay pile and a car boot. Also got my energy monitor working again to try and curb our ever increasing electric bills. So was a NSD saturday and only spend on Sunday was the online weekly shop.

    Hi LP

Just caught up with your diary...

That is so nice that man left his money to the children of the village.

    Hi Miss,

Yes it's quite the bonus we found having moved here. Seems he left an awful amount as it has been going for many years, the chairty own the local village hall, primary school grounds, the park and probably some other items. Since the commity members live in the village we also know the land won't be built on. Its only a small village of a hundred or two houses.

    Hi buddy,

Erm now let me think, its either Majorca or Menorca. I keep getting it wrong, but im putting my money on it being Majorca haha. I let the OH book it, I just worry about paying for it! We are off with OH's parents to ease the burden of looking after the kids although I suspsect they will need another holiday of their own after to recover :rotfl:. Haven't been abroad with the Missus now for 5 years! eek.

Yes the roof could have been much worse, luckily one of the lads from footy is a roofer so did me a good price. It would have been £800 he said if he had quoted for insurance company.

Seen on the news about that awful fire where three little ones and their older brother died in a fire, its made me have a think about if i can improve our fire saftey (already had smoke alarms fitted, but thinking about improving escape routes if we got stuck upstairs.

Also we have a beck which runs along side our house and its a flood risk apparently so think I might invest in some sandbags should it ever happen.

    Prevention is better than cure.

  • Must fill out the carers form tonight when I get in from football training (trying to avoid fisn "n" chips" on the way home these days lol). Not sure what sort of money this brings in but it all helps. Whilst I am one of the first to think the government throws far too much money at people these days im not too proud to refuse free money though :)

Checked my oil tank last night and I still have about 40-45% left which isn't bad considering I filled it up a little under a year ago now. So for the foreseeable future I have only my electric to worry about.

Finally shifted the last of the xmas wrapping paper, packaging and boxes. With three kids its amazing how much space all this packaging takes up. Such a waste.

    It certainly does help!

He should never have left us, although that goal was like so many of his from years ago. Cool, calm and collected. Funny how Arshavin and cham had the whole first half and some of the second and missed easier chances than that.

I am hoping he can rub some of his attitude onto Theo. The lad just rushes everything too much. Less haste more speed.
