Where does it say, "it is an offence to park on the road, in front of someone's drive?"
To say you run a business who's worried about none customers not getting into your shop, i call you a liar.
You spend far too much time on here trying to justify your extortion of drivers by clamping their cars. Clamping cars is not going to move them is it? For your alleged customer's ! yeah right.
you are either a owner of a clamping company or a shop owner in cahoots with a clamping company.
You're crying because you are going to lose your mortgage payment's, tough.
You doth protest too much.0 -
Errrrrrrrrrr WRONG !The Highways Act 1980
18 Section 137(1) makes it an offence
to wilfully obstruct free passage along
a highway.Where does it say, "it is an offence to park on the road, in front of someone's drive?"

Another one who makes too many assumptions. Where have I ever written that I own a shop? You spend far too much time on here trying to justify your extortion of drivers by clamping their cars. Clamping cars is not going to move them is it? For your alleged customer's ! yeah right.
LOL, you know beggar all about how me and how I run my businesses, but you call me names and insult me, just because I don't go along with your point of view. Why is that?you are either a owner of a clamping company or a shop owner in cahoots with a clamping company.

The level of intelligence demonstrated in this post is astoundingly low, don't you think? Have I caused you any harm in any way? Were you one those morons who parked on my forecourt and were clamped? Do you park on private land and a landowner has got his own back? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Toodlepip old chap, you won't be here next week. You will get so so bored trying to substantiate your extortion business.
No one's bothered whatsoever on here what you have to say about extortion, waster.
You try to justify clamping and it's not working.
I believe earlier in the thread you mentioning being responsible for clamping about 8 cars a week. Is it because you are going to lose your income and hopefully your home, that you come on here and try to justify your existence?
Without getting banned from here, i wish i could tell you exactly what i think of you. It wouldn't be good day !0 -
So 3 different government websites say it, of course they are in fantasy land according to a certain poster
Proposed Changes
The ban will also apply to towing away and all other forms of vehicle immobilisation. Once implemented, anyone who clamps (or otherwise immobilises) a vehicle or tows it away on private land without specific legal authority to do so will face criminal proceedings or civil sanctions.
The ban will apply whether or not there is the intention to charge a release fee,
http://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/pages/vehicle-immobiliser-ban.aspx
Ahead of a clamping ban, new government figures have shown private wheel clampers take up to £55m from drivers each year.
Extortion and abuse
Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone said: 'For too long motorists have fallen victim to extortion and abuse from rogue clamping companies.
Around 500,000 clampings take place annually on private land.
There is an an average release fee of £112 and almost all are paid. This leads to release fees of £54.9m.
But legislation due to come into force early nex year will make clamping on private land a criminal offence.
If they break the law, rogue clampers will be liable to an unlimited fine in the Crown Court or up to £5,000 in a Magistrates court.
'I have been outraged by cases of drivers being frog-marched to cash points late at night or left stranded by rogue operators who have towed their vehicle away. Clearly this is unacceptable.
'By criminalising clamping and towing on private land this government is committing rogue clampers to history and putting an end to intimidation and excessive charges once and for all.'

Private wheel clamping to be banned
Anyone who clamps, immobilises or tows away a vehicle on private land without the specific legal authority to do so will face criminal charges or civil penalties.
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/DG_190178Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

I would take that to also count blocking in as immobilisation, so FLYBY put that in thy pipe n smoke it
Immobilisation definition - immobilisation - the act of limiting movement or making incapable of movement.
immobilizing, immobilisation

Yes, 'all forms of immobilisation' does include blocking in, there is no question of it being legal even now. Under the PSI Act 2001 you currently need a licence to carry out any form of vehicle immobilisation:
Wheel Clamping 2005 Law
Read the link Flyboy and you will see that it's already illegal for you (unlicensed) to block cars in as you describe. The new proposed law is simply banning 'all forms of immobilisation' including blocking in and towing.
Why are you so focussed on wanting to 'punish' people, rather than solve the problem?
Why did you misunderstand Alexis' original post advising you to use signs that politely ask people to leave the spaces clear for customers? Signs. Not your receptionist running out and asking people to move.
I will tell you what I think your business is. I think you own a garage and much of your business is private towing. Well not for much longer...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
