Cant you use the online "chat" on the easymobile website to query the text credits re charities? That way you are talking to a real person rather than emailing.

    just a thought!
I might just have to try that. It was no surprise when I received the following reply by email :
    Thank you for your e-mail.
You cannot send these text messages unless you have set your phone up to do
    so with us.

If you have any other queries please respond to this e-mail without altering
    the subject.

    Best regards

    My original message to them:
Hi. Now that easymobile is closing I have a large balance to use up in a
short space of time. This was not paid for but rather promotional credit
applied as I referred people to join easymobile.

This balance is largely unusable as I'm unlikely to make many calls. I have
seen many places where I can text a donation to charity by sending a premium
    text.

As I have not used auto top up I understood I am unable to make premium
    calls or send premium texts.

I have heard people in a similar position have tried to text donations.
Some have been unsuccessful with a supposed premium text donation just
costing about 9p (I guess as it was to a shortcode). However others have
reported "success" when donating to various charities using the shortcode
84858. That is to say their accounts have been debited by say £1.50.

I have heard others state though that the charity ends up not getting
paid.....which would not be good news - their accounts go down in credit and
    charity sees no benefit.

Please could you clarify / confirm the questions I have raised.

It was just a thought! I personally dont have any credit to get rid of (being one of those that only sent text messages and therefore did not spend enough to get promotional credits!). saw the onlne chat thing as I was looking for an alterntive to phone number.

Kinda wish I hadn't bothered now......"Catherine" said i could send premium text messages....just not make premium calls.

No word on why I'd been the exact opposite by email. I replied to the email and will see what happens next.

i'm just wondering, why don't people just join up with Fresh (free sim + 10 pounds bonus credit) and then after using the 10 pounds, switch to your preferred provider e.g. tesco value?

Hi Shelle, yes I mentioned EM. Tesco's registering systems are down so I think they are getting a few customers from EM :)
I hope I can still use up my credit with a few calls I have to make over the next few days, still using my old EM no? Very thick when it comes to this stuff. Cheeky little yoof at Tesco referred to my perfectly functioning mobile as 'ancient' (SE T230; very hoodie proof) so I told him its owner was ancient too!

I'm still not quite convinced but easymobile reckon they will pay up.......

I got an email from the same person I had spoken to on livechat I think.
We are not aware of any charity premium text messages. If it has been said that a donation will be made to charity from the premium rate text message then I will assume this will be done.

Does anybody know if you can get more than 1 "Fresh" sim? I had 5 easymobilephones with free credit, and wondered if i could get a sim with £10 preloaded for each one.

It says at the bottom of the freshmobile page you get to if you click through from the easymobile site: "The Fresh Mobile service is subject to the current version of the standard terms and conditions which are available at www.freshmobile.co.uk.". This page seems to be inaccessible on both Mozilla and Internet Explorer. Hardly the beginning of a beautiful relationship... This is such a pain.
