If this is the case I am sure the national press would be interested.....after all it looks like Stelio can afford it ;)

Here's what I read over on RPoints :

I wasn't going to run this comp this early but in light of the easymob situation, you might as well use the credit or lose it!

I'm currently frantically searching for my easymob sim with £150 non-refundable credit on it! :?

Unless you are already signed up for the Auto top-up service (and have paid in at least £10) you cannot make any premium calls/texts.

So sending the text will just be a waste of the credit as they will still charge you for it, even though they won't pay up the £1.50.

Someone then said you could send premium texts but not call premium numbers.
It depends what you mean by sending "premium texts". If you just want to send a text to a short number, then yes, you can send them, and you can make calls to 0845/0870/0844/0871 numbers.

But as far as sending money via premium texts you are just wasting more credit if you don't have auto top-up.

You can send the "premium" texts - (but read on), which costs more than a normal text (they charge 9.4p for a short address), but they don't pass on anything to the recipient - the £1.50 "premium" doesn't get paid!

So each premium text you send costs you 9.4p, but no money is passed on to the competition runner/charity etc.

So it doesn't look good. Any idea how to get a definitive answer? I have a feeling the chap on RPoints knew what he was on about..... I know some there have set up their own premium services in fact.

    Thanks Caixta for that info.

I have decided to go with Tesco as their package has no charges (unlike easymobile and freshmobile), can check bal online or bt text and is 5p a message and they have offered me a free sim card deal.

Who did you speak to? No free SIM offered to me :(

EM sent my PAC code a few hours after asking for it.
  • I was charged 9.4p for the premium texts for example to sightsavers and the balance was not reduced by the donation amount (and no reply from sightsavers) but for the text donations to 84858 numbers; the text charge and the donation amount are taken from the balance so I assume that the donation is passed on to the relevant charity/charities and not just kept by easymobile?

See this thread for list of charities with an 84858 text donation number:

Pigeonpie, I didnt ring them, I simply emailed them via contact us on their website and explained that I was an easymobile customer looking for a good text only deal as I was deaf.

From the correspondence I have had since then from them, I would highly recommend them to other deaf people. If you are deaf, you will understand why when most of the time we receive nothing but hassle because we have to use third parties to make calls!

Did you mention easymobile when you rang them?

This was my interpretation and experience too.

Successful for me were all the 84858 numbers but Sightsavers and MacMillan Cancer with different numbers didn't collect the donation, even though the c.10p phone call was taken. I can see my balance has dropped by over £50 with all the typically £3 collections taken on those that were confirmed by two texts received.

I would of thought EasyMobile would have a problem not honouring these deductions and probably would have an even bigger logistical problem also sorting out what they would legally have to pay, or could avoid. I suspect that if they don't manage to block it it will be paid, but they are trying to limit this as much as possible by eg withdrawing the auto top up.

I have emailed easymobile customer services with the relevant questions. There's still penty of time to donate but somehow i don;t expect a speedy / helpful response.....I get the feeling I'll get some boilerplate letter about auto top up.

    Will keep ya posted.
  • Hi, has anybody received the unlock code for their Easymobile phone yet? I applied on Monday 13th November and although I recieved an email confirming they have received my information, I haven't the code yet. I have a Nokia 1600 so need the code from Easymobile before I can move to another provider. Does anybody know if there is another way to unlock my phone? I've looked on the Forum and it looks as though the normal unlock sites can't help with Easymobile Nokia 1600's. Thanks.
  • Found another premium sms that works. Featured in sunday times style magazine yesterday. Two handmade scented candles in tins. (great for secret santas?)

One is coffee scented, one chocolate truffle. £5 by reverse sms charge. mine took 2 hours to show up on my easymobile account, but went through.

    text the word: Candle

followed by your name, address, postcode to:

    81800

allow 28 days for delivery (you get a text receipt)

    offer ends november 24th
  • anyone else know of any good gifts that can be bought via premium sms ?

Cant you use the online "chat" on the easymobile website to query the text credits re charities? That way you are talking to a real person rather than emailing.

    just a thought!
