Thank you to all of you who advised me of what to do.
I have had the whole amount I was claiming paid into my bank after I wrote a rejection letter.
So now I can spend spend spend:money:
How much of this money you're going to spend spend spend is really yours to spend?
The amount you have received is made up of (unlawful I know) penalty charges, for example's sake 10 x £30 = £300. You never had that £300, in fact you possibly never had £3 which may have been the catalyst for incurring the penalty charges in the first place.
I think someone in another post raised a hypothetical scenario whereby a bank refunded the charges in full and then subsequently launched a counter-claim for the difference between the, in this case 10 x £30 refunded and, say 10 x £12 - the newly set charge. The successful claimant not being able to pay of course because, precisely like you they've gone out, again, and spent spent spent, hence finding themselves right back where they started.
I must say, before anyone else does, I don't think it'll happen but I do think the people who originally got themselves into difficulty with their banks due to money mismanagemernt (rather than unforeseeable misfortune) should exercise a little more caution this time around.
It is this kind of thing that gets the anti-claim brigade - those who haven't incurred any bank charges due to prudent money-management, inc. going without where necessary - rather irate as they will perceive they are going to be paying yet again for the irresponsible actions of others.
Just a thought. Apart from that well done and happy shopping!0 -
Hello
I am looking to start recovering costs from a few banks and credit cards.
This weekend I plan to send the letters to get the last 6 years charges info.
Can anyone tell me if the address listed for Lloyds TSB would be the same for both current accounts and credit cards, please?
Thanks0 -
Well done!

I am claiming for £985 plus £200 interest from Lloyds. They have paid me £750 too. I have continued my MCOL claim for the balance of £550 (incl court cost) because I feel that is whats fair.

hi. im away to launch a claim against lloyds. my friends helping me. he already did this with them and says they payed out instantly. but he didnt send letters and stuff. he just went in and spoke to the branch manager.
is this a good idea?
also if i have to start taking things as far as court how much is this likely to start costing me. im already up to my eyes in debt as it is. infact as we speak im acquiring 30 a day charges for my overdraft being over its limit. and have already had 2 charges for returned debits at 35 squid each this month.
so my visa and my mobile phone bill are unpaid. couldnt care less about the visa. i only wanted a visa debit card instead of an electron but noooooooo they insisted i had to have a credit card as i couldnt have a visa debit card. i warned them id only end up in trouble but he said not to worry. bloody serves them right. funny how there quick to give me something to spend there money but not my own. anyway. i just avoid there phonecalls til i get paid. but i need my mobile for buisness aswell as personal reasons. itl be cut off in a few days!!!!0 -

If you havent yet started the court process, you just claim for the difference.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
