  • I have been trying to claim my bank charges back since January fro m Lloyds, I sent first letter, they responded with their standard letter of no chance, I then wrote to them again on the 13th February and never heard anything back from them until yesterday they have sent me a letter saying that they would pay me £750.00, when in actual fact my claim is for £3480, I do not want to accept this offer and I need to know what I need to do next.

  • I am slightly worried because the leter I received from them arrived yesterday the 23/04/2007, but there letter is dated the 10th april and it says that the money will be credited to my account with 10 days, I checked my account this morning and there was nothing credited. Any thoughts as to what I could put in a letter to them saying I do not accept this offer.

  • I have begun claiming bank charges from Lloyds Tsb account and sent the first letter to them asking for my charges to be paid back. Today I have received the letter I expected saying they are lawful and have the right to charge me etc. There is just one section of the letter which I am worried about as it says:

"The Office of Fair Trading has published new guidelines on credit card default charges. We're still talking it through with them, but the important point is that the guidelines are about 'default' charges that people pay when they break an agreement with us. This doesn't apply to your charges as these were for dealing with your request to go over your agreed overdraft limit. They are not default charges because you haven't broken your agreement. They are our prices for the service we provide in these situation.

They have said they can't agree to cancel my charges.
I do not have a credit card or an overdraft limit agreed with the bank which is what is sounds like this letter is stating. Is this a standard paragraph as it's a bit confusing?

Yes its a standard fob off and oft-seen on the forum for query. Itwould take forever to reply to every customer individually so this is the computer generated letter that might be signed by a real person (or a printed signature) at the bottom. Just shrug your shoulders, continue with the process and good luck :)
  • I've recieved the statutory - we need 4 weeks but the chances are we're going to take 8 - letter through the post.

Once I'm a bit more clued up about the differences in Scottish Law I'm just going to bash on with the court letter.
The only thing im still confused about is that scottish people can only claim back 5 years of charges as opposed to the 6 elsewhere.
I've asked for 6 years of charges back so im not sure if i should re-calculate.
    Can anyone help ?
