He went back to NZ to sort it out but they couldn't do it in time as was xmas. So back to no working allowed. Any ideas?2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100 -

Can he not switch to a working holiday visa, that would allow him to work and by the time it ran out (12 months) you'd be married and it wouldn't matter any more? A friend went to Spain to get his sorted, a bit cheaper than going back to NZ to do it. Take into account their processing times as well when you book flights etc....they should be on the embassy website.
There's also plenty of cash jobs around, building sites, removals etc. Try the gumtree for those, my housemate picks up plenty of work through there on top of his 9-5 job!0 -
Thanks i'll pass that on. How much does a working holiday visa cost do you know?2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100

I'm not sure of the cost to be honest, I think it'll depend on which country you apply in as well. I suspect they might have closed the "apply in europe" loophole now, check that out as well. They might make you go back to country of origin to get it these days.
I know that a sponsored work permit costs around £500, as does the ancestry visa. So I imagine you're looking at that kind of ballpark...0 -
Thanks for the advice i'll let you know what happens

What was his excuse for cancelling the standing order?
This seems odd to me! Sorry for saying this, but it looks like he had no intention of getting married, so spent the money instead!, once again apologies if this is not the case:o

I won't comment on your partner - suffice to say I supported my ex-husband for a couple of years as I didn't heed the warning signs and thought it was too late to back out of the wedding once it was arranged. It isn't, and is much less hassle and cost than a divorce!!
Anyway, as to earning some money in a hurry, see the following threads. It really works.

Hi
Sorry to hear about your predicament. I can understand why you want to defend his actions, however... If he knew how important this wedding is to you, why was he so blatantly disregarding your feelings and wasting the money? Being laid back is one thing, being downright inconsiderate is another. If he is this comfortable keeping secrets from you, can you really be comfortable and fully trust him?SSB

I hope that we can sort this out. I'm going to give him the chance to did us out of this mess and if he can prove he can be responsible with money again then we'll be ok.

Just to point something out that you may have missed. The ceremony is not the wedding. The "for better and worse" and being legally bound together is the wedding.
It looks to me like you've become so bound up in having the ceremony, that he is "superficial" to it.
He is the man you are going to marry. He has stolen from you. He has lied to you. Is this not a possible sign of trouble in the future?
He spent the money, if he, and he alone, can't pay back what he spent in the time, then don't marry him.
Divorces are expensive. Wasting £1,600 might be a once-in-a-lifetime bargain in comparison."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
