I feel sick, I hate this company so muchUsing my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0

First post...been lurking on this thread for a while.
I'm in the same boat as everyone else, bought a pair of earrings for my girlfriend to the tune of £185. This was January 25th.
I sent several emails in February and March to them, to which they replied with a pitiful 10% off my next order with them. Likely!
Started a Visa Chargeback (paid by Debit Card) against them to which Visa responded on May 6th saying they couldn't credit my account immediately, yet Nuttalls changed my order status to 'Refund Sent' which hasn't materialised yet.
I was about to proceed with the Moneygov route to try and reclaim my money...what course of action should I take now they've gone into liquidation?
I'm assuming Moneygov won't be any use now? Should I contact Barclays again? Are there any other options open to me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys.

Hi Matt,
I'm sorry, but there won't be any good news on this situation now. I've spent a lot of time on the phone to various people today, the first being the female solicitor from Baines & Ernst who sent the letter we received this morning.
Her letter suggested we should contact Paypal and I advised her that we'd already explored that possibility weeks ago with a negative result. She was aware we had obtained judgement from the Court telling Nuttalls to pay us the money, but she explained that having made an overview of their situation, it is most unlikely we will get any money at all - in other words the CC judgement isn't worth the paper it's printed on!.
She said we would receive some paperwork and go "on the list as unsecured creditors" but that is as far as we're likely to get.
I also spoke to the Court who didn't seem to be aware that Nuttalls are filing for liquidation and the only advice they could give, is that our CC judgement will probably be "set aside" when they hear from the Solicitors acting on behalf of Nuttalls.
We are intending, as a last resort, to go into our bank and discuss the situation with them - but I am not hopeful of a good outcome.
There's going to be lots of us now in this same diabolical situation, but the powers that be will only look upon us as the little people, who can always be persuaded to go away when things go pear-shaped - sorry.
I also feel bad for everyone out there who like us - has been so unfairly ripped off!
Regards,
Ann.0 -

I think this is a perfect example as to why section seventy-five needs to change, to include third party payment methods like PayPal.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Couldn't agree with you more - in fact I said almost exactly that comment to Paypal this pm. If anything, it has also made us doubt the benefits of settling through Paypal in the future. May now consider closing the Paypal account and using a credit card for online purchases from here on!0 -
With the availability of section seventy-five of the consumer credit act, can anyone explain the point of PayPal for the average buyer? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

A business that does not accept cards is probably best avoided.
However, if you want to buy from a private seller, who almost certainly does not accept credit, debit or charge cards, then Paypal is far better from the buyer's point of view than paying by cash, bank transfer of Western Union etc.
Whether one should buy from a private seller is another question.0 -
I originally opened a PayPal account when I started using Ebay some years ago. But I only began using Paypal to make other online purchases after having my debit card cloned twice in less than a year back in 2009 - even though the sites from which I made the purchases indicated they were secure!.
I set up direct bank funding in PayPal, enabling me to pay for goods and have my bank account safely debited - without the need to enter debit card details on websites at all.
However, there are numerous outlets who do not accept PayPal as a means of payment and I'm told that it's better then to use a credit card - even more so if the retail outlet is intent on not making refunds and then goes bust!0 -
Well, I am another one of the people that has been ripped off by Mr Nuttall.
I would like to say reading each and every comment on here I felt assured and some what hopeful in getting my money back. Unfortunately this is not the case.
March 7th I placed an order for around £1,000 and today I was one of the many to get a letter advising the situation.
Like many of others, I got the usual there is a delay etc etc. The best of it was, last week I received an email stating the following
"
Hi Mrs Moden
Just to update you on your purchase from us: As promised on the telephone today 10th June, my colleague has now received feedback on your order and we apologise the delay with your order.
Your item will take a further 10-14 working days but the team are doing everything possible to speed things up for you.
Thank you for your patience regarding this matter.
Very best regards."
This is the first time that anything like this has happened to me and boy has it happened on one of the most expensive purchases made.
My first action is going to be contacting the other trading company which I have read from other comments on here. They even have the same opening hours as the Nuttalls Of Chester!
I do not see why we should provide this person with the lifestyle they have while we work hard to buy nice things such as wedding rings and gifts.
Personally I am not a confrontational person nor one who would wish bad things upon someone however I believe today I have changed. Reading this letter I want to knock on his family home tell his wife children and friends exactly what he has done.
It makes you realise just how easy it is for someone to set up a website and steal money from people as this is what they have done. They have stolen from so many people.
Think I might be contacting Rogue Traders or something along those lines as I really do not want anyone else to fall into this mans hands.
If anyone wants to join me in this let me know!!!!0
