Weekly Flylady Thread 7th February 2011

Well, my first ever flylady challenge started well yesterday with DH doing the hoovering.
However, today I've just got back from Rainbows and am shattered... I'll clean the sink tonight when I'm making the tea and I may bleach all the surfaces as our (admittedly hideous) green worktop is definitely a sort of brownish shade in front of the kettle where all that tea gets sloshed/teabags dropped etc
The only thing on the list I can say hand on heart I HAVE done is changed the dishcloth, as I do that every day :j Maybe I'm not QUITE so skanky as I think I am... there's always hope
Hope everyone's having a good day - too shattered to read the posts today but will try again tomorrow0 -

School run done and DD doing her homework..
''Question''
My daughter is 10 and i still sit with her when she does her homework, does anyone else still do this at that age or am i being to soft and she knows it...
DS3 has just turned 9 and always wants me in the room whilst doing homework. He does it at the kitchen table and I'm usually doing something in the kitchen but if he is struggling I will sit with him. He reads it out and then says if he does not understand it. This morning he was doing his maths (as Daddy would be home after school) and I left him to it whilst I went in the shower and he got stuck and I've had a look and some of it is way off being correct as he obviously has not understood it. We'll have a look at it tomorrow.Penelope_Penguin wrote: »Not at allshe's 10, and before you know it, she'll be nearly 18 and about to leave you
Both of you enjoy each other's company while you can :T
And for what it's worth, I question the value of HW for 12 yo's but that's for another thread, as I know there are lots of teachers on here who probably disagree
Totally agree with both points.
Lovely day spent mainly in the garden, ok totally in the garden until it was dark.
DH is home :j and taken DS1&3 to cricket nets so I've made a cake which I need to go and ice.
DS3 is very tearful and has a sore throat and ear. He has his first ever brass day at the music centre tomorrow so I'm really hoping he will be ok. He got hit in the face by a squash ball in a tournament on Sunday so is not having a great week. Let's hope he got on ok with his new cricket bat at nets. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
AnW'sMum start a thread on the vent board to alert others of this. It is a disgrace! The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Shattered but it all looks good - off to have a glass (or two) of red wine. Care to join me anyone?0 -
Kitchen done.
I have a working oven for the first time since Boxing Day :j
Turns out that, had its poor build quality not resulted in the lampholder tripping the fuses within 8 weeks, the live wire wired into the neutral terminal combined with the supply cable pinned against the corner of the oven beginning to melt would have resulted in the entire oven body, including the metal handle, becoming live within the next 3 - 6 months.
Technically, this means that the repair man could have refused to touch it - and I would have been invoiced for a new oven, plus approximately £120 of parts already ordered for the original, two call outs at £50, two delivery charges of £45, one collection and disposal at £85 and an installation fee of £189 plus VAT.
As it was, he took pity on me, cut the power, replaced the supply cable, connected the new oven and safety tested the entire downstairs before leaving.
I was on the phone to the Housing Association before he had turned out of the end of the road.
They are now instigating emergency independent safety checks on every single property the builder is or has ever worked on for them.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I deliberately asked the girl at the security area re. craft items in hand baggage. Knitting needles are supposed to be fine, so are crochet hooks.... as long as you have wool with you, and then she rolled her eyes, "But truthfully it depends who you get, "
Kitchen table cleared as a friend called to say she was coming over to borrow some cake making stuff and recipe books for a charity cake sale.
Estate agent has been in touch and has a potential buyer for me even though I have said I wasn't planning on putting the house on the Market until spring. I guess I can say I'm not planning on it yet, but if they make it worth my while I might consider it!0 -
