And perhaps yours are just naturally brighter! :rotfl: Seriously, I have done everything youve done - I know generally people believe that if the kids are not doing well in their homework, its generally because the parents dont put the effort in - but its not always true, I promise...
Vanilla, thinking about it - Ive spoken to his teacher about it a lot... he is just the same in class as he is at home. Is your DD the same at school?
xx
haha i doubt might are brighter, My 11 year old came to me with chocolate on his hands the other day and asked me what to do?!
I suggested putting them in the oven to see if he could burn the chocolate off but he didn't like that idea.
Homework may be one area my kids have no trouble with but trust me there are tons of other things they do.
Seriously though im a great beliver that kids come along at thier own pace, if you kids need alittle encouragement to do thier homework and you have the time to give it too them it really isn't a problem.
Any chance they just like the one on one time with you?? My 9 year old is a !!!!!! for attention seeking, if he can "act dumb" and get special help you better belive he will. The school had him signed up for extra english and reading help last year because they had him down as having a reading age of 4!!!
it was only when they tried to get me to sign a consent form for afterschool tutition that i kindly pointed out that he is perfectly capable of reading his yu-gi-ho cards and computer games, they realised it was an attention seeking ploy, he was simply playing dumb because he liked the teacher and she gave the struggling kids extra time.
Honestly though I stopped beliving in a world where all kids did things at the same pace years ago. unless you have a concern about it i wouldn't worry.0 -
Good evening everyone  Not had time to catch up, so hugs all round :ASchool run done and DD doing her homework..
''Question''
My daughter is 10 and i still sit with her when she does her homework, does anyone else still do this at that age or am i being to soft and she knows it...
Not at allshe's 10, and before you know it, she'll be nearly 18 and about to leave you
Both of you enjoy each other's company while you can :T
And for what it's worth, I question the value of HW for 10 yo's but that's for another thread, as I know there are lots of teachers on here who probably disagree
Off to find a list and do some jobs before DD, DS and DD's friend and I watch C4 at 9:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Evening Flyers
DDad no better but still refusing to go to hospital. Went down this morning to check on him. DD1 called in at tea time on way here to pick DGC up. She made him toasted t.cake, that's all he wanted and told him if he is still as bad tomorrow she is ringing ambulance.
Flying wise, took glass out of fire, ordered new one hopefully here tomorrow. Did kitchen using new mop which is lovely. (squeegee one from JML) did cupboard doors and worktops. Skirting boards and wiped oven over. Cupboards still tidy as is windowsill so no hotspots to sort. Put 3 baskets of clean clothes away. WM x2 dried on line, DW on, tea sorted and kitchen blitzed again, DW on again. Been to see mum and checked on DDad again.
Costa coffee brewing so going to relax now. Just got to decide if i am going to knit sock or read kindle.
Hugs to all who need them, sticks and spoons also.
Welcome to all newbies, remember your house didn't get like this in one week so it won't be sorted in one week. Oh and decluttering is the way to an easier life. One in one out, if it hasn't been worn in a year it won't be worn ever (exceptions for mens suits and wedding and funeral clothes)
Need to apply this to myself as i have 2 beautiful M&S creamy white cotton bedspreads to get rid of, large DB size, so anyone in Huddersfield wants them give me a shout, it will be easier to give them to a good home than to charity shop them:rotfl:Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

:hello:Hi everyone
Got back from gorgeous Bologna yesterday, but soooo tired! The good news is that spring seems to be on it's way. It felt like late March (in Scotland) out there, but it was the quality of light that stunned the pair of us.
I deliberately asked the girl at the security area re. craft items in hand baggage. Knitting needles are supposed to be fine, so are crochet hooks.... as long as you have wool with you, and then she rolled her eyes, "But truthfully it depends who you get, " She's a knitter too so could see where I was coming from.
Not caught up on fred yet, and not even looked at listy, but have flown
Half way through tax/nics for temp employees
Cleaned kitchen
Sorted out a drawer,
Sorted out a craft box
But felt a bit dazed tbh, so was random about the whole thing if you see what I mean.
Off to catch up on fred, thanks FLC for all the encouragement and mulesSaving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.
Textiles, languages, travel and a lovely home are not stupid things to want. You have immediate family's support.Appreciate what I've achieved so far. Other people's opinion of me is none of my business.0 -

Yesterday was a really rubbish day for me - it was one of those really rare days were I just couldn't get my head in the right placeI spent the day feeling really sad, but lighting a candle and thinking about people I have lost really focused me on what is really important....so got my head right again last night and I am back to normal having a lovely day today
That echos me exactly xxCould you add me too please.
