  • When I was on a diet :p ( all of the time it seems? ) I went to slimming world and one recipe was for home made chips. I have made these for years and all members of the family eat them.
Peel and cut potatoes as for deep fryed chips.
    Par boil for 5 mins.
Spray oven tray with low calories oil spray.
    Put chips on tray.
Spray with low calorie oil and salt ( if needed )
Pop into oven on a high temp for 20 or so mins turning half way through cooking.
    And enjoy!!!:T

    Fondant Potatoes(These are delicious)
    1. Peel potatoes cut into chunky slices about 2-3cm thick, place in pan with water and 2 chicken stock cubes and bring t boil. Turn down heat and simmer 10-12 mins until tender when pierced but still firm, drain well.
    2. Heat 75g butter in frying pan until starts to foam add the potatoes with 4-5 unpeeled garlic cloves,1 thyme sprig and 1 rosemary sprig cook for 4-5 mins each side until golden in colour throw away garlic and herbs and serve.

    Potato Pancakes
    Ingreds
    150g plain mashed potatoes
    1 tbsp milk
    1 tbsp plain flour
1 tbsp double cream(or extra milk)
    1 egg
    1 egg white
    salt & pepper
    1. Beat all ingreds together so it forms a thick batter season well
    2. heat a tbsp of oil in frying pan ladle batter in to pan and cook 1-2 mins each side (like normal pancakes) until golden

yes if you cook them first
  • I thought you just couldn't bung them in the freezer but then I wondered about frozen chips and potatoes on the top of frozen meals. Many thanks!

    Hi carrottop :)

I've added your post onto one that has a few ideas for a) using potatoes and b) storing or freezing them.

By the time you've read from the beginning you should have an idea or two :)

  • In desperation after a large car repair bill, which blew my budget out of the water, I bought a sack of potatoes for £7.50
I thought I could make loads of meals out of them

If any one has any ideas for recipes, that would be great, but I am vegetarian

I have a slow cooker I can use
