Rups, I assume if you have a cough that needs antibiotics that it's a chesty/phlegmy cough, which won't be helping with the sicky feeling. I get quite congested in my throat overnight (always have done, remnant of childhood asthma and loads of chest infections) and it really makes the sickness worse.
Hope the antibiotics clear it up quickly, and I'll be thinking of you for your scan tomorrow

Does anyone know if you can drink Isotonic sports drinks during pregnancy? I'm reading conflicting advice.
Babycentre advised them if you're dehydrated to replenish minerals etc but then I read somewhere else that they're not advised.2019 Wins

I should imagine you need to watch the caffeine content and bear in mind that they're probably packed with sugar. Other than that, a quick google suggests they're OK. Perhaps just don't have 10 a day
You could always try rehydration salts if that's your concern, i.e. the stuff you have if you've got diarrhoea. Or you can make your own. Personally I'd do that and take a pregnancy vitamin pill rather than an isotonic drink."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I was just going to say the same as fluffnutter. If you don't crazy with the amounts you drink it should be fine.

i will get my medicine at lunch now and start.
with regard to isotonic drinks, you can make your own with squash, water and add a little salt to it. my PT told me how to avoid spending loads of money and making my own. i think its the salt content in the ones you buy too and caffeine. saying that is lucozade ok to drink?Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Yeah. Lucozade's just got loads of sugar in it, not much else. I drank loads of full-fat coke in my first trimester. Not very good for me, but it certainly lifted the spirits"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I thought that full fat coke was bad in terms of caffeine? lol. i gave up the whole lot,. esp diet coke as used to have loads of that!!
started my antibiotics. they are erythromycin ones and always mess up my belly. yuck.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Emylou - Hope you managed to get in touch with the midwife and they have offered you some reassurance. I'm another one who doesn't know much about the illness I'm afraid.
came straight back up again a few mins later

Hi Abi, thanks for your concern. I had an emotional 24 hours since hearing from my brother; kept being told by Dr (via his receptionist) that it was just a virus & there was no blood test! Spoke to a triage midwife who said she didn't really know what I should do!NHS direct eventually called me back at 2am & just told me what it said on the NHS website when all I wanted to know was did I have to see Dr or could I go to A & E if necessary just to get the blood test! Had to wait for ante natal clinic to call me back on the Weds when they confirmed I had to see Dr as there was a blood test but they wouldn't want me going to the hospital & coming into contact with other pregnant women!! More calls to the Dr entailed where I was told again "there's no blood test!" I explained I'd spoken to the Midwife & then the receptionist said "maybe if you can get the midwife to speak to the Dr that will help?" So eventually 24 hours after hearing about it my Dr agreed I would need a blood test! Thank goodness!!
I had the test this morning; results will probably be a week at earliest! Meanwhile I'm off school because of the risk to myself & baby & my children who are very susceptible to illnesses due to their low immune & one specific child who has sickle cell.
It's scary to think how few NHS professionals know about this condition. It's also known as Parvovirus or "fifth disease" as it's the 5th most comon childhood illness. It's like chicken pox in that you are most contagious before the main symptom (red "slapped" flush cheeks) appears. It's most dangerous to pregnant women between 9 & 20 weeks & has a risk of miscarriage & complications to the foetus. Am trying not to worry but being at home is allowing me time to think (although I actually don't feel great- hot, headache, sick etc) so am sleeping lots too.
Sorry for the ramble ladies. I hope you are all well & having a good week. I'll read back when a bit more with it.Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhearI want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......Must STOP spending!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
Hi Emylou,
Hoping that it is a lot of hassle and fuss for nothing and that the blood tests come back saying that you are immune.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500
