Ooo, thanks moneypenny - think I will try an ice lolly. That might help. I feel like any fluids I drink just 'sit' funny on top of any food and make me feel more queasy.

I went off tea and coffee as soon as I got my BFP. My coffee started to taste like cigarettes - yuk! I used to drink squash or tea, and would have maybe 4 drinks throughout the day - so I have never been a big drinker.

I have been sucking on mints today since being sick and they seem to be helping maybe. Had half a sandwich and am not feeling as queasy as I usually would - but then I haven't drunk anything so maybe thats why...

Rups - I've not heard that about using different cleaning products or creams etc? I haven't changed anything that I used prior to being pregnant.

I think chaps are generally a little more guarded with their feelings in general tho - and probably even more so after a loss. Am sure he is excited - just frightened too - but probably feels that he 'needs to be strong for you'. They say women are complicated but men are too sometimes :rotfl:

I haven't changed any of my cleaning products, but I do make DH clean the loos (almost daily since I spend so much time looking down them :rotfl:), and scrub the shower with CillitBang as the fumes can get a bit overpowering but we have really hard water and it's the only thing that keeps it shiny!

I haven't changed my cosmetics either, although my skin has gone a bit mental the last few weeks so am considering changing my face cream for that reason only! I've never had so many spots in my life, even when I was a teenager.

The only things I'm really avoiding is alcohol and the unpasteurised/mould-ripened soft cheeses. Luckily I don't like blue cheese, pate or tuna anyway, so I'm not really feeling too deprived. :rotfl:

I'd forgotten about the eggs, I'm intolerant and I can only eat them mixed into things! All lion-stamped eggs are from hens vaccinated against salmonella though, so I don't think it's as critical as it used to be.

Last time I checked the guidance it said that rare beef/pink lamb was ok as long as the outside was well cooked, but I've just checked again and they've changed it! :( Apparently this is due to the risk of toxoplasmosis, it's under review by some board of microbiologists. Not sure I'm going to worry too much about that tbh. Poultry, game, pork and mince should always be well cooked though.

it is so annoying what you can or cant eat!!! its annoying! i mean women lose their taste senses anyway so limiting it is bad enough. how did the women in the olden days survive? i dont eat beef and when i cook chicken and pork, i get so paranoid anyway that i end up buring stuff.

i think things are way over the top at times, like with the nuts things and now we can eat them. seriously! :) i was told to avoid the cheeses, alcohol and pate and liver stuff, and caffeine of course is ltd.

It seems to change daily. If I make a mistake I pretend that I am French. Obviously I try not to try eat the wrong cheeses but I have at times and just have to learn not to panic at every thing.

Last thing I heard rare steak was fine as long as the outside is cooked. I will not be googling to find out it has changed :D

thanks dizsie...last time i was kind of ok about mayday (oops university hehe), but have heard so much rubbish about it, i have now decided against it. even when i had to decide where to have my procedure, the gp said not to go there and St thomas's was better. are you in Cr too? :)

haha :rotfl: maybe if I wear a beret while eating my rare steak it will counteract the effects :D;)

I do think all these guidelines are supercautious and based around minimal risks - I've never been ill from eating cheeses before, and will happily eat carpaccio normally as long as i'm in a reputable restaurant. So better to be safe than sorry, but if I slip up/forget, I'm not going to worry too much about it!

ps - I know cold camembert is off the menu, but what if it's cooked? Nothing better than an oozy camembert to dip stuff into *dribbles*
