    Morning all,

Haven't posted for a few days, but have still been reading. Welcome to niklepic and congratulations on your BFP.

The good news, is my interest in food seems to be slowly returning. On Saturday I went to our local market, and the smell of the chips from the burger van made me want some (I know - not particularly healthy). I managed to convince Moon that we should get a Chinese takeaway for dinner, as the Chinese chips are SOO much better than the fish and chip shops here. We did enjoy them though (I let Moon have half). I haven't been sick since Thursday night, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't be again. I'm now 9 weeks, and hoping to get my scan date through the post soon. I would imagine, it won't be until 12 weeks as we're having the nuchal translucency test and blood test, and I believe these have to be done at 12 weeks rather than 11, so that they are more accurate. I'll be 12 weeks either on Mothering Sunday, or on the Monday after (the due date from the midwife is now 30th September, so I've no idea now, as I've had 3 different dates so far). To be honest, it's easier to think of it being due 1st October, as I increase a week every Monday then. Will be interesting to see what the scan date comes out as.

My trousers are all now getting too tight - I can't do the button up at the top, so I had a look at the maternity clothes in New Look at the weekend (the only shop where I live that seems to sell them in stores), and wasn't too impressed by their selection of trousers. Has anyone who is further along than me started to get maternity trousers? Any recommendations? I need them for casual and workwear. I'm guessing that it will probably be better for me to have over bump rather than under bump, as I find that it's uncomfortable having a waistband pressing on my tummy (particularly when I'm bloated from eating - I look about 6 months pregnant by the evening).

Hugs to all feeling anxious or nauseous.

sexymouse, I've really struggled with maternity wear too. There seems so little of it actually in the shops. I know you can buy online, but I tried that and the items were totally the wrong fit and size so I sent them back and I'm back to trawling the high street.

I've got a couple of nice bits from New Look as it's one of the few shops that actually has a maternity dept. They do a couple of types of plain black trousers (slightly bootleg) that are great for work. I didn't like their jeans though. They were either skinnies (never a good luck for a dwarf like me) or really frumpy. I bought a lovely pair from Mamas and Papas instead. They were quite expensive (£40) but I reckon I'm going to wear them most days (had them on non-stop for about six weeks already!) so at least I'm getting use out of them. They're the style where the denim stops under your bump with a blue stretchy bump band above and are really comfy. I found the ones that have the stretchy panels at each side of the waistband really uncomfortable.

Other than that I've looked in H&M but not found anything very nice. I've not found anywhere else actually in the shops :(.

Thanks fluffnutter. There's some good tips there. It's really frustrating that nowhere sells their clothes instore so that you can try them on. I've just read an old post from another forum after google searching that said you can get elasticated waisted trousers from M&S, so may google, and then try them on instore and see how comfortable they are/aren't. I'm wondering whether I can get away with just buying some trousers in larger sizes for a while. Once the summer comes, I predict that I'll mainly be wearing dresses, as I have some jersey dresses already that will go over a small bump for a bit.

I'm definitely adapting my normal wardrobe. I've got some dungarees (not maternity) that I'm still getting into at nearly 23 weeks. I've got dresses that are fine and I'm still quite comfy in my normal leggings and elasticated-waist snuggles (what I call loungewear, i.e. not quite pyjamas but you wouldn't leave the house in them either!).

You can also get a bump band, particularly when you're just starting to show. These enable you to leave the top button of your trousers undone with this band over the top. Really useful. New Look do three (one black, one white, one grey) for a tenner.

    Hello Sexymouse,

I have quite a few pairs of jeans and one pair of trousers from Next and they all fit really well. I've got a mixture of over the bump, under the bump and ones that just stretch at the sides. I think I could only find over the bump work trousers. I bought two pairs of jeans (one in the sale) and the trousers new and then bought a couple more pairs off ebay and they are in good condition.

You might find that the over the bump ones aren't as comfortable at the moment and might be better with under bump or side stretch ones. I found my next ones didn't press too much againt my tummy.

I'm refusing to wear them at the moment though because I don't want to jinx myself :o So I'm just making do with my skinny jeans held together using the old hairband trick. My work trousers still fit as I had to buy a size bigger after my last mc because my old ones didn't fit and I couldn't bear having to wear materinity ones.

    xx

Thanks ladies, will look into your suggestions. I didn't expect to have to be buying anything quite so soon, but I think it didn't help that my trousers were already a little too tight before.:o

One other thing, I fold my over the bump bit down on my Mamas and Papas jeans. It's too big for me at the moment so it's a bit baggy. Folded down with a stretchy vest over the top, it's fine.

Hi all, hope everyone is well today.

    Congratulations and welcome to nicklepic!

Well, I had my 12 week scan this morning. It was incredible to see that there really is a little baby in there! Everything looked fine and healthy as far as they can tell at this stage so I can relax a little now. Baby was dancing around when they first put the scanner on me, then after a while it put it's arms up, stretched it's legs out and crossed it's feet over. Like it was just chilling out - so cute! Oh, and even though I felt like I was dying for a wee the radiographer said my bladder was almost empty! I hadn't been for a wee for nearly two hours and had been drinking so I don't know how that could be. It didn't seem to make any difference anyway. And I got a lovely clear picture, even through all my layers of fat! She put me as a couple of days further on than I thought I was so I'm now 12+2 with an EDD of 8th September.

sexymouse I took the plunge and bought some maternity gear on Saturday as my (already a bit tight after Christmas) trousers were getting unwearable. I got two pairs of work trousers with lovely stretchy waistbands from Mothercare. They were both in sale one pair £12 down from £24 and the others £19 down from £38. I have the £12 pair on today and they are soooooo comfy - I may never go back to normal trousers ha, ha!

I also got a pair of over the bump jeans and some maternity leggings (they come higher up on the waist than normal leggings) from Red Herring in Debenhams and I'm very pleased with them too.

I suppose I should move over to the next thread at some point, but I think I'll still keep popping in here to see how you're all doing. Take care all.
