  • oh, in other news! a girl OH and I used to be friends with announced she was pregnant with baby #2 this week on facebook - at 7 weeks! she'd had a scan due to some bleeding and pain but I did not understand how she could announce it so soon and be so certain. i'm petrified that even if scan is okay, the more people i tell, the more likely something will go wrong... madness!

Hello and welcome to Candycane and Snowbean.

Sexymouse, I hope everything goes well at your scan on Monday and you feel a bit more reassured. I'm sure it will be fine.

Emsbet, good luck for your scan on Monday too.

I finally managed to get some decent maternity bra's today. I went to Bravissimo and although it's a bit of a trek for me to get to the nearest one it was well worth it. The ladies who do the fitting there are fantastic and I ended up with two different bra's which are actually nicer than the ones I was wearing before. The woman was so nice and I was so pleased with what I got that I could have cried!

It started snowing when I was on my way home. I normally love a bit of snow but I really don't want it to stick around as DH and I are supposed to be picking up our new car tomorrow. I don't fancy driving mine that I'm part ex-ing to the garage if the weather's bad.

We were also planning an Indian takeway tonight and I've been looking forward to it all week but again, if the weather takes a turn for the worse we won't be able to get it.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend and not suffering too much with symptoms.

Student Mrs try not to worry hun, it's really hard. I've had a mc before and i told everyone i was pg, this time i feel positive and completely different and have told family. I figure if something is going to go wrong then it will go wrong either way and telling people won't change that but at least by telling family i have a support network ready just in case.

Thanks to everyone for their reassurance. Good news is, I've not had any more brown discharge overnight, and nothing when I've wiped the last couple of times. I'm hoping this is a good sign. The bleeding isn't red or heavy - very light brown discharge/spotting, but the out of hours doctor wanted me to get checked out as it was accompanied by shooting pains on one side (similar to a nerve pain, that flicked on and off all afternoon). Having pressed my tummy, the doctor at the hospital said that it was unlikely that it was an ectopic pregnancy, as I wasn't very tender on either side, but I think that was what was suspected due to the one-sided pain.

ETA: Scan appointment is at 11.45am on Monday. By my calculations, I should be 6 + 4 by then.

Hi sexymouse, just wanted to share my experience with you. I had brown spotting at pretty much the same stage as you. I also had HORRENDOUS pain that made me sick and almost pass out, although mine was all over, not just one side. I had to go in for a scan and all was fine, they didn't need to do an internal scan on me but did warn me they may need to if the normal one wasn't clear enough. I have since had an internal scan to check my cervix and it wasn't half as bad as you would imagine, no-one sees anything except the sonographer very briefly when they insert the probe thing and I found it far less unpleasant than a smear, I've had loads of those and hate them, I'd rather have an internal scan anyday! Oh and all was fine after my pain and bleeding, I'm now 28 weeks and baby is currently givinf me a good kicking in disgust as I have the laptop against my bump lol!

  • Thanks rj, missed you on here. Did you park at hosp when you went? Is it worth going to concierge and asking them where to go or was it quite easy to find?

Those bargains sound good. If things do go well at scan, we're tempted to go into town and finally make our first baby purchase, eek.

Thank you emsbet and ikkle87. The people that know at the moment are people who I would want support from if things are bad but... yeh.

What's been everyone's good points of today? mine is just going to work and not worrying about uni work for once :D (and then feel bad for not doing work, lol - damn inherited work ethic from my dad!)

If u come into hospital from allensbank side and drive round one way and turn left just after detal hospital plenty of parking round there. Then u walk to where u turned into the car park and walk straight on ( opposite the direction u came) turn left and walk two seconds. Big sign says antenatel clinic u can't miss it. What time ur scan?
love you lots like jelly tots :o
  • My phone is so annoying!

Try again. 1 o clock Wednesday and im in placement til 12.15 but in a high school near the hospital.

So is that parking inside the hospital or on king george v drive? cus i know some of that is permit only. I hope they put me forward to give me a week less of worry but as long as theres something there I'll be happy.

You rooting for Wales or Ireland in 6 nations then? :)
