Hope you're feeling better soon kitten_pie.
Thanks to everyone for their reassurance. Good news is, I've not had any more brown discharge overnight, and nothing when I've wiped the last couple of times. I'm hoping this is a good sign. The bleeding isn't red or heavy - very light brown discharge/spotting, but the out of hours doctor wanted me to get checked out as it was accompanied by shooting pains on one side (similar to a nerve pain, that flicked on and off all afternoon). Having pressed my tummy, the doctor at the hospital said that it was unlikely that it was an ectopic pregnancy, as I wasn't very tender on either side, but I think that was what was suspected due to the one-sided pain.
ETA: Scan appointment is at 11.45am on Monday. By my calculations, I should be 6 + 4 by then.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
Good news sexymouse
Remember to go with a full bladder, but don't be surprised if they ask you to empty it to do an internal scan instead as at 6+4 bean is still very small and they might not be able to get a clear picture doing it externally. I've had quite a few internal scans because of this and also due to the fact that I have a retroverted uterus, which is one that tilts back, which makes it even harder to see LO on an external scan.

Thanks for the info emsbet - I'm really hoping that they manage to see it with the external one, as my Mum is possibly coming with me, so don't want her seeing anything down there (I know it's really silly, but I've only ever had one smear test before, and I'm trying to come to terms with the fact that my private area is going to have to be looked at by complete strangers, let alone someone I know). I don't know if it's a good sign, but I've just been actually sick for the first time in my pregnacy - only ever felt sick before, but I suppose it could be a reaction to the stress of everything.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

It's not the most pleasant experience but I would say its not as bad as a smear. The sonographer won't actually be looking up there, except when she inserts the probe (which BTW doesn't go in anywhere near as far as the speculum they use for a smear) as she will be looking at the screen. They give you a big piece of paper towel to cover yourself over with and with that and the position of the chair next to the bed, your mum won't be able to see anything.
I've had about four and DH has been there each time and he hasn't seen anything and was looking either at my face or at the screen. I'm sure your mum will be the same.
Also unlike when you have a smear, the lights in the room are really dim so they can see the screen so you can't see much anyway.

Thanks emsbet -have been googling avidly since you mentioned it, and couldn't really find any descriptions of what it's like, so I'm sure your description will help other people too. Am I right in thinking you have another scan on Monday too?Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

I hope I haven't worried you, I only mentioned it because I thought it better to be prepared. You may not need one but if you do I promise it isn't that bad at all.
Yeah I do have another scan on Monday, which I'm assuming will be an internal again but I've got to go with a full bladder just in case.

Hello, please can I join you? I'm a regular lurker, but not posted, on the ttc thread and now this one, but have made a new name as don't want to be recognised by anyone who might know me in real life, seeing as we haven't really told anyone yet etc.
I'm 5 weeks today, and we found out at I think 3+5. Haven't yet been to see the docs as the appointment system that they have is a bit weird. Would have had to go last Monday, and thought maybe 4 weeks was too early? I didn't want to look silly
Sexymouse, I know how you feel. At 4 weeks I had some pale brown discharge when I wiped for a couple of days, and I was really really scared, even though I know it's not uncommon. Thinking that hopefully I'll be going to the docs this Monday, I tried to calm down and not to worry. I'm scared again now though, as it started again on Thursday (about a week after), and it's still here. Haven't had any pain, just mild cramping occasionally, so I'm trying not to be worried, although really it's all I can think about. Have done another cheapo test this morning, and it still shows positive, so I guess there's nothing I can do except try and get an appointment to see the docs on Monday?
Hope everyone else is doing well x0 -
I was sick for the first time today. Am 9+2 and had only had nausea before. Please don't let this be the beginning of lots of sickness, I've got this far!
Hope things are ok for you Sexymouse.0 -
Snow here in Cardiff, sooo pretty! nearly slipped on way into work though, oops!
So good to see this thread moving/hope that things are okay though...
Finally got some PMA yesterday but don't know why as scan is Wednesday and I am bricking it. Eek, just want there to be something living on the screen, is that too much to ask?
I've got a feeling bleeding is bad if bright red but if brown, is old blood? might be totally wrong though, that's just from reading other forums when I was paranoid about my cramping and no blood.
fingers crossed for you both emsbet and sexymouse and welcome to all the newbies. I would try and remember all your names but I think I only do if you were on ttc thread; borokat, ikkle and candycane? all the others, I'm still glad you're here and will learn your names soon.
I'm possibly 11 weeks today though also have about 3 edd's on the go as I had only one cycle off pill before we caught and i think i ov'd day 16 on the catching cycle so who knows what that means?! I've actually been able to eat more this last week and felt okayish, just sometimes a sore, tight stomach? Still tired all the time but that's my PGCE, too, methinks.
I was only sick once - in week 5 or 6, in Hamleys! and it was due to having eaten nothing apart from prenatal vits and the omega 3 capsules - so i only take the pregnacare vits now and not the omega 3, trying to get it from food instead.
so pleased to be so close to the scan but I still can't shake the feeling of dread. good luck to those who scan before me... How long does it take to fill a bladder we think? my scan isn't til 1:00 and I am teaching 8:30-12 so will def need a wee in the morning!
hugs and health to all xx
