  • Did the midwife come bellola? I'm hoping they'll let me speak to my midwife tomorrow by phone to try and calm my stupid paranoid fears!

Not much to report today except I've been teaching an exercise this week that has backwards rolls in this week and because its just up and over I haven't thought about it and then driving back thought, what an idiot, should I be doing backwards rolls at 10 weeks?! I haven't been doing them as much as the students, just to demonstrate but still :S

    hope we're all well xx

HI all, hope everyone is good.

Have yet another rotten cold so actually been off work sick (which I hate doing) and been in bed since about 1pm yesterday, apart from eating and laying on the sofa.

Think I may try and steam my head and go back to bed, OH gone out so may stick twilight on and have a twix too! Feeling a bit down as DH and me haven't been getting on too well, I am getting on his nerves, but really don't know why. He said way before Christmas he was starting to feel depressed again, so sort of hoping its that and he will actually go and talk to someone now. I have been trying to get him to talk to either his doctor or his dad as noone else seems to be able to get through to him. It's like living with a 13 year old boy at times, he just gets really moody instantly but won't say what is the matter, or will deny he is in a mood. Men, I thought we were supposed to be the ones who were hard to understand!

Sorry for going on, don't really have anyone to talk to in real life

On the plus side 12 weeks saturday, definitely showing now too so have had to dig out my old maternity clothes to wash and air them as have a feeling I will need them soon.

Hope everyone else is well xx

Awww. Gemma that's not gonna be a nice situation for you. My DH suffered with depression last year for the first time since we've been together - it was sparked by the loss of his grandma (he suffered on and off before we got together). It was a horrible feeling and I felt like I couldn't discuss it with people in RL as well...always feel free to chat here.

Although I guess you'll be moving to the 12 wk thread sooner rather than later! :D

As for the cold thing, I sympathise...I'm on my second week signed off with a respiratory infection - I'm well on the mend now. Although, not quite sure how I'll cope when I go back to work. Tired and nausea doesn't not a happy teacher make. I will smile through it though...I don't have much choice. Ha ha.

Bit of a personal question, please dont feel you have to answer, but is he 'getting enough':o

Only reason I mention it is my OH sulks like a moody teenager if he feels neglected, instead of being nice to me and making me actually want to he guilt trips me and starts petty arguments so he feels justified :rotfl: men can be so dumb sometimes ! I know each time Iv e been pregnant the last thing on my mind is sex, which prompts the "only wanted him for a baby" comments :D

Student_Mrs I was in a similar situation teaching-wise the other day - it was PE and we were looking at different ways of rolling. I decided to not demonstrate (infants' PE lesson) and just let them experiment and told them that they weren't allowed to do forward or backward rolls. I was a bit worried about lifting the heavy mats onto the trolley on my own afterwards, as I did get a few twinges when I was doing it, but hey ho. I was worried more about getting dizzy if I did the rolls, and then passing out and being the only adult in the room with a load of Year 1s, I wasn't sure that would be a good idea. I think if you do rolls all the time, and you didn't feel dizzy, it should be ok. My doctor didn't say any particular exercises were off limits - she said some people even run marathons when pregnant!

Gemma I hope your DH manages to get the courage to talk to someone and that your cold improves. Maybe he is a bit grumpy with you because he is worried that things will change between you now there is a baby in the picture. He may be worried about finances, worried about you and how the pregnancy may go, or lots of other things that he doesn't feel able to verbalise, and instead is turning it into grumpiness. Is he going down with your cold (Moon always gets grumpy when he's sickly)? Could you maybe come up with a way to pamper him a bit? Cook his favourite meal (or take him out if you don't feel like cooking), buy him a boy's DVD that he can watch when he's not feeling like getting up, leave him a love note in his work bag etc. I started to read a book preview on Amazon the other day called The Bloke's Guide to Pregnancy (written by a bloke for blokes), and it was quite interesting reading. He may be feeling a lack of control, now you're expecting a baby, which is making him feel down. I hope some of this is helpful - if it's not, please feel free to ignore my amateur psychology.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Mishka, how did you get on at the doctor's? Did you manage to persuade them to let you have an earlier scan? When do you think you'll tell your DH?

    ((hugs)) to everyone feeling rough.

I had a bit of a wobbly day yesterday, still not having many symptoms, mostly just the tiredness and the occassional bout of nausea that lasts just a few minutes or so. I keep reminding myself that it's early and that every pregnancy is different and also that we saw the heartbeat on Monday which is a good start. I guess I still don't have much confidence that things will go right :o

    xx

Thanks emsbet, The doctor started off by saying "lets get you referred straight away" when I then explained we had 2 healthy children he then went through all my notes and there is a letter from the consultant that says he will see me at 12 weeks (in any subsequent pregnancy) and the chance of it happening again is less than 1%
The doctor then said it was just one of those things and we had a 1 in 100  chance of it happening again, Im hoping he has got his figures wrong on this bit as that doesnt seem like great odds to me :o

He was brilliant though and checked my blood test results (sneaky nurse told me 4 days for the results yet he had them on his poota the next day) my thyroid is well within acceptable levels and everything looks good.

There really is little point of scanning early as the soft markers they use to check for abnormalities are present before 11 weeks x days anyway, and I KNEW that but it felt a little neglectful to not at least speak to a Dr earlier.

I have no symptoms like you other than the odd moments of semi nausea, a first for me as im normally sick as a dog from day one !

Only another 7 more weeks to wait for the scan :rotfl:
