    emsbet - 8 week scan 6th February; Dating scan 6th March(EDD 16th September 2012)

I've got my dating scan date through today. It was originally set for the 1st March but going on the dates I was given at my scan yesterday that would only make me 11+2 and I wanted it as close to 12 weeks as possible because last time we had a scan at 11+1 and all was fine then Alex died at 11+3 and we didn't find out until 13+3. So I've called and they've moved it for me so as long as the two scans in between don't put me back anymore I should be exactly 12 weeks when I go.
I know it won't make any difference to what happens but I'd feel better been 12 weeks or as close as possible when we have that scan.

Just deciding whether or not to go out in the rain for some crisps. I had a bagel and houmous for lunch but I'm still hungry :o

    xx

I've been eating like a total pig lately emsbet. I've been getting nausea (but not actually being sick thankfully) pretty much constantly and the only thing that seems to help is eating something. I need to be careful though as I'm pretty overweight to being with (size 16 and BMI 30 - not good at all) and I'm going to be massive if I'm not careful. The one thing I'm not looking forward to at my midwifes appointment is being weighed because I think she's going to tell me off for being so fat. I'm also worried that the amount of fat on my stomach is going to cause problems getting a clear scan when it gets to that point.

I'm sure that they see a lot of ladies larger than a size 16, she probably will just encourage you to eat healthily. I *think* your BMI has to be over 35 to be considered "high risk" and for you to be under consultant care rather than midwife led care. I maybe be wrong in that or it could be that some areas have a lower limit.

It is difficult in the first trimester to eat healthy if you are suffering from nausea, sickness or food aversions. All you can do is try your best to eat as healthily as you can but not to beat yourself up if you can only manage less nutritional items. Your baby will not lose out, it will take what it needs from you. It's your own reserves that may suffer.

I find drinking a glass of smoothie a day helps me towards my five a day. Most of them have 2 of your 5 in one glass. Baked beans can also count so if you can't face big meals beans on toast is a good option.

Pleased the scan went well rjh - it's nice that you get to meet your baby earlier than you thought too.

Your new scan date is my Mum's birthday emsbet - hope it's lucky for you.

Hi Hayleyholly, hope you get your answers soon. Do you have any inclination when the baby was conceived at all? I am a similar age to you, 22 and 23 when baby comes (if all is okay) and my scan isn't until 8th Feb, which is booking in appt and dating scan combined but might be different here in Wales.

I did 5 tests (!) and one of them was a clear blue with conception indicator, which is expensive but if you do with the first morning urine, can give an accurate actual reading from conception, not the doctors dating from last period. But if it was more than 5 weeks ago, would say 5+?! Tricky...

RJH, yay! :D Was looking for your update and I'm glad it went well - was OH overwhelmed? What's the scoop on the Cardiff-ness?! Was there a long wait, were they nice, any tips etc etc?!

(((hugs to all))) still can't believe there is potentially a baby growing... !

    Hi ladies,

Isn't it funny how different things are doing in different areas. So I had to take a urine sample into my docs when I found out I was pregnant for them to test it, to confirm. I did that, then booked a 15 minute appointment with the doctor. Clearly this is not a booking in appointment - so am wondering what the heck that's about. It was meant to be today but they put it back a week last week because the doc couldn't do it or something.

Anyway, I'll be 7+2 approximately when I see him then.

OOh just a thought, do you need your partner with you for your booking in - if it's asking about his families health? I was just going to go on my own rather than both take time off.
