Tiredness is kicking in for me. Fell asleep on the train, luckily I woke up just before my stop!
Can you lovely ladies come up with some ideas for an excuse for me not drinking this weekend? I'm going on a spa weekend for my sister's 30th and I'm going to be expected to drink. We are staying over night so I can't use the driving excuse. Actually I can't use that anyway as I don't drive! :rotfl: I'm not sure I'll get away with saying I'm on antibiotics because my other sister is a nurse and she will notice when I'm not taking them with the meals we will have and also I'm sharing a room with her so I can't say I took them before. Any ideas?

Hi ladies, I was wondering if I could join you...finally. I've been lurking for a while now (months).
I'm confident of my conception date but going to LMP that would make me 4+1 (so very early) - I only tested today (twice :rotfl:). We DTD on the 24th Dec, on the 27/28th I had some light spotting (something I've never had before) and I've pretty much felt fat and bloated ever since. I'm very tiny (just under 8 stone) and very slim, yet have quite a substantial tum for me (purely bloating)...so I'm hoping that disappears.
Stupid question...what do I do now? Do I ring the docs soon, or should I wait a week or two? I'm completely clueless about this bit because I've never thought to ask anyone. And I don't want to ask anyone in RL now.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Say you're detoxing for the New Year? A bit lame maybe and they may do the line 'oh just the one'. Sorry, that's all I can think of at the mo!Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
Welcome twinklie
Some doctors will see you straight away to get you referred to a midwife for your booking in appointment at about 10 weeks. Some surgeries won't see you until a bit later. In some areas you can self refer straight to the midwife. The best thing to do is give your GP surgery a call and ask the, what the procedure is fr your area.

Thanks that's about all I can come with. They all know we are trying and the problems we've had so TBH it'll probably be obvious why.

Thanks...I will give them a call later in the week when I call for my asthma check up appointment. Don't really want to call from work for obvious reasons.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Right, I'm going to ring the doctors to enquire about the mw's contacting me. I popped in there inbetween Christmas and the New Year to let them know. I didn't bother with seeing the doctor and asked the receptionist if I could book straight in with the mw's and she took down my details for their book. Said someone would be in contact and they haven't yet. Boo hoo poor me, lol. I'm 8+5 and want to get my booking in appointment booked in and a scan date sorted.
I'm an older mum to be and I had some issues in my previous pregnancy. They picked up on possible down's syndrome at the nuchal fold scan (at 12 weeks I think?). Then we had to travel to a bigger hospital for a more detailed scan every month and was warned about possible other abnormalaties too. Thankfully DS was born perfect.
So for these reasons I'm anxious to get the ball rolling!Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -

Not quite thanks, I was nearly two days after you but needed the hoursbut, I am counting on you to tell me where to go as I thought they would sent a letter so totally didn't listen, just heard neo-natal, ante-natal clinic etc and going to ask at reception if you won't tell me!!
supposed to be teaching in the night of my scan so hope it is good news...
emsbet, hmm... ttc ladies might have something from the 2ww. I'm lucky that I don;'t drink a lot so people haven't noticed so far. Detox sounds like a plan, you could say the food will follow after the drinks free weekend.
welcome twink. I too feel it's too soon to be on a pg thread but it makes me feel better to count off the days. Feeling sick again, blurgh
also forgot, rjh, I ended up throwing up my pregnancy multivitamins in Hamleys last week - mortifying! Was about 11:30 and I hadn't eaten anything apart from them and as we went up a floor, I felt really hot, then smelt some aftershave and was rushing to get out with hubby when I could only make it to the lifts and promptly... you know. so now I have joined you in the puking, but luckily only once, just getting steady cramps and nausea

the excuse Ive used a few times now is to say that you are both still trying and have made a pact & agreed to avoid alcohol during 'peak' times, it gives you at least 2 weeks before anyone asks 'how it went' (i have people who put it so bluntly) + another week of stalling if they are persistant but most have forgotten by then !
another one that has worked for me is to say you have follow-up blood tests and its been recommended for best results you avoid alcohol for 24/48 hours (whichever fits) most people are too polite to ask what the tests are for, if they do a simple 'nothing specific' usually cuts them off.
For close family though I tend to just confide in them, the ones closest to me know then to change the subject if others ask and save me from answering directly.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0
