oh gosh.. ok. i havent been but i know its not encourages! on friday, i went with hubby for his comedy competition as he is a stand-up comedian (or in the making). the room we were in was so hot, i felt really faint and was drinking lots of water and kept going out. hope that hasnt done much damage. i really felt faint in there. thing was we had to stay there till the end to get the results, as hubby had gone through to the quarter finals.. hope the little one was ok. the next day i felt so dehydrated..:(
Ahhhh. no, dont worry, there is a world of difference between a hot room and a sauna/steam room! It may well have made you feel a bit poorly, but it wont have harmed the baby. Hot rooms will make dizzy, maybe headachy and thirsty, and possibly faint and sick, but cool down, drink water, and you'll feel better in no time!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Hi everyone - I am after some advice please. We've been trying for a baby, and I'd started getting symptoms etc, and although my period's not due until Monday (16th) I couldnt bare to wait any longer, so I took an early pregnancy test this morning. It came up positive straight away, two really bright lines, not even slightly faint. I was so surprised that I have since done another one (I've been stocking up!) and again it's come up positive. We feel like we can't be excited properly as I should really wait until I've missed a period (shouldn't I?). I called the doctor straight away this morning but they already had no more appointments today and have been told to try again in the morning. GRR!! I'm too impatient and want to know if I can be excited or not!! (I am absolutely buzzing with excitement really, but don't want to jinx it). Will the doctor want/need to see me before I've missed a period? Is the fact that I've got 2 clearly positive tests enough? I feel like taking more, but I realise there's not really any point! Has anyone else taken a test before their first missed period? What did you do?
What should I do?? I'm so confused/impatient/excited! x0 -
hehe i cant do that anymore.. thats why when hubby makes a mess on the counters i want to kill him as its more effort for me. then he gets mad at me as i nag nag nag. lol
enjoy your day off. i think i would just sleep hehe. i wish we had a dishwasher (something to def wish for soon), as i get fed up of washing up and washig up! hubby is a gem as he cooks more than me, but he uses all the pans and dishes and i just sigh when i wash up!
feel less eeky today, so having peppermint tea. seems to help a bit.thanks for the advise reg the hot room. i panicked at the weekend.

I know you are excited and want to know... i was the same. I would say though, that GP's will not retest you at all to give you any more certainty than you have from your tests. Its wierd! Generally all they will do is say "Ok, you are pregnant, you've done a test?, right, When was your last period?, Ok. your due date is approx xxxxxxx, Have you any health problems, do you feel well? do you know what hospital you want to go to?"
If you can bear it, hang fire for a while, then book to see the gp in a week or so.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I agree with Kira. It is rather underwhelming when you go to see the GP as although you are excited, it is just really a form filling exercise for them to refer you to the midwife. I would hold on and then phone the surgery and ask them the best way to proceed as in some areas you are able to self refer to the midwife and cut out the GP completely.

My GP gave me a due date, didn't weigh me though (thank goodness!) She did say congratulations and told me a bit about what I could expect over the next few weeks. She spent most of the appt talking about smoking (I gave up the day I got my bfp) and what to do if the cravings got too much. My OH was there and she gave him a big pep talk as he has given up smoking too. Then she had a feel around to check for ectopic as I'd been having some cramps.
I felt more excited after we'd seen her, it made it all feel more 'real'. Once I'd spoken to the doctor I had to go to reception to book a midwife appt. The lady on reception asked me if it was my first, and said congratulations as well. I know to them it's nothing major at all, they see it every day, but they were the first people to say 'congratulations' to us, and it felt so nice!!
Sorry waffling now. 6 weeks today, and a week without a cigarette or a glass of wine (can you tell this is an unplanned pregnancy lol!).
