im the same rups - i keep thinking everything is gonna be fine so why shouldnt i buy things then im like oh but theres the 12 weeks thing - well they scan in wales at 10 weeks im told so once i see scan im going mad on the purchasing side of things!!

    lol

i think they scan in england between 10 and 13 weeks, they check for downs syndrome at the same time if you wish - i hope my scan date is earlier rather than later, cant wait :o)

thanks rjh.. :) yes once i know i can, im going to go mad buying stuff. hehe cant wait for ALL of us to do that! Just being patient and good though now and keeping positive. :)

hey penguin, i normally suffer from ibs and had a case at the weekend, where i was constipated. this morning, i was worried that i would bleed, but touchwood i was ok. peppermint tea helps to soothe the belly. :)

can i ask about vitamins and stuff please? I was told to take folic acid, which i am taking daily. are we allowed to take additional vitamins like vitamin c etc (it would esp help with my cold)? the gp was totally useless, so seems like i have to bug you ladies here and the MW when i see her :) at the mo, i fancy a coffee so badly. i read that we are allowed 200mg per day, with tea being 75mg of caffeine..i also cant stop eating spicy food.. i hope that is ok?

i take 3grams of vit C a day, its a water soluble vitamin and taking too much will basically give you a loose stool so its really hard to overdose on. ( i am a nutritional therapist so i know its safe)
folic acid is a must as is vitamin D - i cant remember the dosage but the midwife recommended this to me and its good to hear as i had already come across this in my studies.

a really good quality vitamin for pregnancy, the best on the market really is zita west, although they are expensive at about £25 per month, you can only buy online. it includes your dosage of folic acid and vit d in this multivit.

try to come off the caffeine if you can, do it slowly though, maybe cut down a cup every few days, otherwise you might get side effects

Morning all. :)) how is everyone feeling?

i am still ill. bleurgh! i have had a second dream of where i have found bleeding and have panicked thinking that I am losing the baby! grrr. it disturbs me dreaming like this. :( woke up with a headache so am not with it today. :0(

ah ok so taking vit c is ok then along with folic acid? i was sure vitamins would harm the baby as you are trying to get nutrients? thanks for that Laura. I am looking into doing a nutrition course as well as it really interests me. :) i have a science background anway but wanted to gain knowledge on the nutrition side of things. :)

wrt caffeine, i will try come off it. i am not too bad at all, i normally have 2 cups of tea (or somtimes a cup of tea and one of coffee (rare) ) per day, and yesterday i only did 1 tea but i had a dairy milk bar as was craving it. talking of tea, i need my morning cuppa. :)

All well here. I think but not too sure that i'm on the way out with the nausea! Ive been taking charcoal tablets and they seem to help loads with the wind. My main menace at the moment is heartburn but got medicine from the drs that is helping. I have a sore throat today so hope i'm not coming down with hubbys cold. It's only been 2 weeks since I got rid of the other one! And that lasted 3 weeks in the end ... I take pregnacare got my folic and all vits in it. And coffee I only usually have 1 cup in the morning but may have a second rarely in the afternoon if ive had a nap and need to wake up.

yes the pharmacist said to ask at the gp for a form for that and then we get sent a card that we can use for free medicines. i had to pay for my folic acid which i didnt mind, but after i had been told i could have got them free, i was annoyed! lol

  • I got my free prescription form at my booking appt, have just filled it out will get it in the post asap.
Rups/rebekah have you had your booking in appts yet orhave a date?

I have a difficult decision to make, I have a nephew with a disability called arthrogyposis and I mentioned this to my midwife who wants me to find out more info about whether genetic couselling was given to my brother (dad) and ex partner - problem is if Iask my mum for more info she will guess I am pregnant . I don't think there is much risk of my baby having this condition as my sister has had two healthy children and she never mentioned any worry about them having arthrogyposis. Think I will tell midwife my dilema, she will just have to wait till after my first scan when I tell people and can ask questions eekk

Pregnancy. Symptoms pretty good. As long as I eat all the time which is difficult because I have lost my appetiet a bit
