Donvasdi If two tests were positive then it means that she is really pregnant. The doctor won't do anything to confirm the pregnancy.

So for now just relax and wait for the letter/phonecall with the date of your midwife appointment. It should be between 8-12 weeks counting from the first day of your fiance's last period.

Morning all. Hanging in here. Had nausea this morning when trying to eat breakkies. Think it's settled a tad more. Seems to be related to heartburn and wind. Was wide awake from 3-6am for no good reason. Wondered if I was hungry so had a bowl of cereal but didn't help too much! Better on the exhaustion front yesterday and ate a very good tea last night. I was starving. We are 6 weeks today ... How is everyone else feeling today? Can't wait to feel myself again rather than like I have some lurgy coming. That said I still have the end of this cold hanging on. Really must be on its way out now surely!

Thank you for all the advice on vitamins. Have ordered some pregnacare as I have read this might help with the nausea also. And with me not always eating good I will feel better knowing at least some vitamins are getting in me. I'll leave the additional iron til later on after blood testings.

Hi Rebekah, cant remember if i officially said congrats or not! if not, then a huge congrats. I had a feeling on the TTC thread that you would fall soon! Glad it happened for you.
I just thought i would mention, that nasal congestion is also a PG symptom, very normal, but not one everyone gets. I've been a bit unlucky and had it fairly consistently throughout since about 5 weeks. You may well have a cold, but there may be an element of just congestion as well. I mentioned it to the consultant when i went to an antenatal appointment, and she said a vicks stick inhaler would be fine to help with the worst stuffiness, but to avoid the spray ones.

  • Thanks for the advice silly moo, looks like we're off to tell her parents tonight then, cannot see them being too happy at all. They had her whilst they were at a similar age to us and have always said that they don't want us to have a child young but it looks like we will be doing now! I think it will all become very real when we tell our parents!

She is due to finish university in June and counting from the last day of her last period she will be due in August (6th, a day before her 21st!), hopefully she'll be able to finish uni without any problems.
  • She should be able to finish uni, assuming she keeps well in her pregnancy. I worked full time with my last pregnancy up to 37 weeks and would have worked up to my due date had I not had annual leave to take.

Hope telling parents goes well. I was terrified of telling mine last time and I was 25, living with my OH for 3.5 years!
  • I haven't told my parents yet. I'm 7+5 today but have been having problems and am going for an early scan on Thursday. I didn't want my parents to be all happy and then have to bear the disappointment should the worst come. My dad had a massive heart attack not long ago and don't want to put him under stress.

Donvasdi as esio trot said - she should be able to finish uni. She may need to tell her tutors though in case she suffers from morning sickness in the 1st trimester.

    Hi guys

I posted recently about not being on this thread often but I do have a little story I'd like to share as it has a happy ending :)

Last night me and DH were in a car accident. We are driving into our local supermarket and a car was about to pull out onto main road. As we got closer I remember DH saying she was getting a bit close and then bang! She pulled out (having hit acceralte instead of brake) and went straight into us. We were thrown about a bit and car spun right round. Luckily no physcial injury to anyone (although our car will probably be a write off - the driver admitted full liability and DH already has courtersy car etc from insurance company).

Although not in pain, I was in shock and had what I can only describe as a panic attack. Ambulance called and at A&E they said all they could do was book me in for an early scan as I was so worried about baby.

Scan today at 11.30 - and it was perfect! Everything fine - little heart beating away and little arms and legs moving about! Very emotional. We will still be having official 12 week scan next week but just wanted to share some happy news on here as I'll be off to the main thread soon :)

Lots of love to all and hugs to all who want to be squished

  • We're back! :j

    OK, so here goes:

    The good news:
    1) Paris was great, a nice and relaxing break, and my DW was pleased that I somewhat forced her to go, to switch off, and to recover from the past few months.

    2) My DW's symptoms have been somewhat challenging over the past week. Constantly tired, sleeping loads, and unable to function properly without drinking/eating/sleeping/peeing or complaining of the pain. Though fortunately not all at the same time, that would just be wrong! So even though there's been a bit of spotting while we were away, I guess that there must be some progress with the beanie and that everything must be going well.

    The bad news:
    1) Contrary to point 2 above, it seems that we have absolutely no way of knowing if things are actually going to plan, especially because of the prospect as mentioned by a few of you on here - who have since had a MC (or MMC) and not had any symptoms. All that happened was a routine (or private) scan showing no growth and no heartbeat. This limbo land, and the all too realistic prospect of things not going well is really depressing.

    2) The more my DW feels carp, the better I feel, because it's the only way of me knowing that the pregnancy symptoms are still going strong, which can only be a good thing. Right? But seeing my DW like this is not much fun, hardly able to have a conversation with her, or get through a day/evening without her snoring... hopefully it'll be better in a few weeks, and that this isn't a sign of things to come :)

    The ugly news:
    1) Why are so many people on here having a MC? Or having issues? And being involved in crazy road accidents (at least they have happy endings)? I told you all to have a good week, to hold on to your sticky beans while I was away, but no. I can't help but have negative thoughts whenever the miscarriage thread is much busier than this one, it certainly sends out wrong messages, but given how my DW feels at the moment, I'm not too surprised. People want to talk, get advice, and sort things out following a MC. And during the first trimester of pregnancy, all people seem to want to do is sleep...

Please can we have no more MCs between now and the end of the year? Ok, if the end of the year is not realistic then at least until the end of this month? ;)

  • PS it's great that there are a few newbies who have since come along and joined this thread - even pleased to go so far as to say that I am no longer the only guy on here. Yay. Let's hope it's a sign of things to come, more guys on here = more talking, because we're not worn out due to weird pregnancy hormones. We'll do the talking, and let you ladies get on with making babies. Literally :D
