  • ok, I think I have caught up on some of the history for you guys..... some insightful comments, thanks.
Got to ask, why do some of you right dates as 9+1 as an example?

8 weeks now and I have had a letter now for midwife appointment on 6th Dec.
Still not feeling ill, boobs tender some days but they always feel really heavy without a bra. Had quite alot, at night mostly as well, dull lower back ache.
I have put the weight back on that I lost with my time off work with that blasted cold, darn!

  • Hello and welcome Bikerchick:wave: It's always nice to read a fresh post in here....it's a bit er, can we say... ssssssssslllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww!

I'm bowing out for now(and I can rabbit on with the best:p) as I genuinely have nothing to contribute which is relevant to this particular thread, which is er, great for me and my uneventful pregnancy and means you lot who may have bigger concerns don't have to read inane carp about how I sneezed and it hurt and whether I exceeded 4 pieces of toast today (I haven't yet but it's probable). Not very riveting is it? And if I had genuine complications such as bleeding I'd hate to read my innocuous possibly insensitive post 1st.:(

I might delve into the traditional main thread later on -if of course, everything is okay with bean so goodbye for now.

FWIW, I think I'm a bit old skool and don't see the point in these 3 separate threads (just my opinion before I get a pummeling) - it's good to chat with ladies who are further along - 9 months isn't a long time to forget the stuff in the beginning and the range of experience and knowledge is more helpful. Well, that's what I think - it shouldn't really be an us and them when we are all pregnant.:o

I will certainly report back on my scan result and I'll be lurking as you are all at a similar stage and I've started to worry about you all,:) (yes YOU Gin)

Good luck with all scans and 'see' you later on when you've got proper bellies:D

Worked up a hunger with that. Time for another slice of toast?

    Out of lurkdom.

I haven't posted in here either, same reason really. This thread didnt exist until I was past this stage in my last pregnancy and I'm not sure there's really a need for it, other th worrying yourself silly with things going wrong for others. 6+2 Here, once I get, hopefully, a good scan on 12+6, I'll likely hop into the main thread.
  • I have a question - do you all go to work as normal? I'm feeling nauseous all the time and was really struggling at work on Friday. Felt sick and didn't know if I should eat something, or drink something or go and get some fresh air, or just go to the bathroom and be sick. Could barely concentrate on work!

I just can't imagine working in the state I am although I know that compared with some people I'm really not that bad. I haven't actually been sick yet only feel like I'm going to be any time. It starts the moment I wake up and lasts all day, until I fall asleep. I'm 7+3 just now and my nausea started at 6+3 and has been getting worse.

Do you think I should go and speak to my GP or will he just laugh at me and say I'm not sick enough to stay off work?

    Hi all

Just poppng out of lurkdom as well to say I'm in agreement with cheebie and esio trot. Whilst I fully support the thread for all who benefit and enjoy it, I had to stop posting as it was adding to all my already ridiciously large anxieties :o

I wish everyone well and look forward to joining you on the main thread once I have had my 12 week scan (9 days to go!)

    Take care xxxx

  • thanks for the clarity, not that difficult is it when you knowthe reason! Well that makes me 8+3 then exactly.

I am very lucky by the sounds of other posters in that I do not feel sick at all and although have had some very sleepless nights, I do sleep a long time 8-9hrs at least now.
I am working a full time job, quite high pressure and often end up working 10 plus hrs a day to catch conf call with Japan in the morning and US calls in the afternoon.
Having time off work for my initial midwife appointment is going to be tricky, as is the actual scan. Added complication - inlaws will be staying with us 14th Dec til they fancy booking a flight back to Cyprus in the new year. Gonna have to start thinking about reasons for OH & I to pop off somewhere together when I get the scan date, as likely to be after they arrive at ours!

I do hope the other ladies continue to lurk on this thread. I can understand the reasons for not posting every day (whos normal life is that exiting?) but I do think its worth updating the thread with key info.
You guys are the only people that know I am pregnant (other than OH) and I am dying to tell my close friends but really don't want to till I am really sure everything is OK. (several of my extended family have MC, so have a couple of friends). I feel I have shared my secret with a select few and let the excitement calm down and less likely to blurt it out now. I thank the thread users for that opportunity at least.

I'll pop in next weekend, good luck with scans/eating/sleeping everyone.

esio trot summed it up exactly for me. I have recently gotten a BFP but no offense to anyone who likes posting here nor to the person who started this thread, but it's not for me. In my last pregnancy, we had newly pregnant ladies mixing with those at 40weeks+ and it was one, big happy family. If you're newly pregnant, it's kinda nice having people who have 'been there' to ask advice from, and when you're later in pregnancy, it's lovely to see all the newbies just starting their journey!

Just my opinion of course, I can understand why some people may feel more secure in this thread, and of course that's their perogative.

Oh and there's definitely no reason you need to hold off 'joining' the main thread until you're past 12 weeks, unless you personally want to. I joined in the same day I got my BFP last time around! :p There's no protocol as such, unless it's developed during my time away in which case I shall poke people with large sticks :D.

    Hi Hon.
Its not silly, and if your GP is anywhere half decent, he shouldnt laugh (he is a bloke however so may be clueless!).

I started to get tiredness and other symptoms at +4 days, and nausea started about 4weeks, sickness at about 7 weeks. I felt so dire, and was having to dash to the loo 4-5 times a day at work, that i actually told my boss about the pregnancy very early about 8-9 weeks, as i didnt want him to think i was slacking with coming in later and leaving earlier than normal. It was a BIG relief for him to know. By the time i let on, i had struggled for weeks, and my sickness got worse and lasted till 20 weeks-ish. End result that i ended up having a week off just to recuperate and recharge at around 13 weeks.

Everyone is different, so if you are struggling, then you need to think what it is that will help- is it tweaking your hours, is it making sure there is somewhere at work you can rest, or is it just not working at all. Only you will really know what will help. I would say, that the pregnancy related protection you are entitled to, won't kick in until you inform your work, so if you need appointments, or adjustments at work, you WILL need to tell them in order to be covered.

In the mean time, make sure you have something with you all the time to nibble on, a bottle of drink (water or diluted apple juice), and rest as much as you can when not at work. I also bought and carried round a pack of sick bags, just to be on the safe side!

Oh, and with regards to the comments on the different PG threads, of course anyone can post or not post on any of the three threads. I have used all three myself during this PG, and have tended to cross post across them throughout. Personally, i have found it nice to have a group of people going through the same stages as me at the same time, which is the benefit of the specific threads, and felt more comfortable that i wasnt boring the hell out 3rd tri ladies with my 1st tri puking and stretching moans.. Its also quite nice to have threads to progress through, as a kind of measure of time- the 9 months can seem to go on forever sometimes, so counting down between moving threads adds in some more way points that come round quicker!!

However, it is definately helpful to also be able to pop over to the other threads and hang out, or ask specific questions of ladies further on who can offer other insight. So i would say that anyone should just post on whichever they feel will be useful! And lots of ladies from the 12-24 and main PG threads, regularly pop back over to this and the 12-24 threads as well!
