Got a call from my manager complaining that I haven't done the marking of the drawings as he wanted. This was the first time I did it, he never bothered to review it, and now another much senior person doing the counting of equipment cannot understand things (I put a description of the section instead of abbreviation like E1, E2, etc!!!!). Of course, it is all my fault. Spent last 40 min crying and still can barely see the computer. So fed up.

Awww darling massive hugs. We are both having a bad day today! His own fault for not reviewing tbh!! I hate it when my work isn't reviewed. I like to have it back with amendments etc.
I am feeling a bit queasy so going to don some clothes and walk to mini tescos around the corner and get some ginger biscuits. Dunno whether to invest in some pregnacare too as i'm just not eating anough to take in enough iron. Going to make a small bag of nibbles to take to work chees, carrot, cucumber and take some grapes and berries. What do you ladies have as snacks?

Scarly - sorry to hear you news. Please, take care of yourself.

RebekahR - thanks. I hate the way he works - he only comes to the office once, and barely ever has time to talk to me. Now, that the client put up some fuss for work being delayed, he recalled me from the client (loved being there), and put all he can on me. I am grade 4, he is grade 9, the other person doing some work is about 7-8! Of course it is me who always gets the blame. Well, his own fault for not hiring anyone for three years and then hiring a muppet senior (grade 9!!!) person who doesn't know what he is doing most of the time. So he could not be given any of this work, which leave just me. And I pay for it. Never mind, only 72 working days left. Yes, I am that desperate to get out of there, that I am counting.

Had some different pains in my lower abdomen over the last couple of days, and getting worried as well. Have a scan on Friday, so can't wait to see if all is ok. Also, every time I turned on my left side tonight, I had a pain in my belly! Didn't like that.

Also, does anyone know when HR are supposed to complete risk assessment? Ok, I have a desk job, so it is not that dangerous or anything, but I have informed of my pregnancy on November 1st, they finally sent me a draft letter on November 10th and I haven't heard anything about risk assessment from them yet. My main issue is the travelling (by train, and you most often don't get seat on the way back, which causes me to nearly faint until the first stop when some people get off. I guess if all is ok at the scan on Friday and next Wednesday, I will be back on to them asking about the bank holidays during the maternity leave (I want to take them before I go off) and the risk assessment.

Oh, and they have changed their maternity policy (or, rather reverted to a different one), as when I checked before the IVF cycle, there was a tiny amount of company pay and return to work bonus. However, I never saved it on my laptop. Now, when they sent me - there is only SMP, and no return to work bonus. They are cutting everything they can!

Wow you sound as bad as me. I just feel exhuasted standing up to go to the bathroom/kitchen/walk up the stairs etc. Wonder if i'm in need of some iron supplement. Might get one any way - which is the best?

Iron supplements are a funny thing- they seem to give alot of PG ladies problems either with constipation, upset tummies, or sickness. The tablet form ones you get from docs seem to be the worst culprits!
The best bet seems to be Spatone liquid sachets which are more easily absorbed and have less side affects. Unless your levels are super low, then you probably wont need one a day. Try one every 3-4 days and see how you get on. Best taken by pouring into Orange Juice as it take away the taste, and the vit c helps absorbtion.

Cant recall who asked about pregnacare tablets? I was on pregnacare plus from -6 months before conception, and was fine with them, and was ok for the first 6 weeks after, however if you are suffering with sickness and/or nausea, then you may find that they make your sickness alot worse, which is quite common. I had to stop taking them at 8 weeks as i was so sick, and just switched to a plain folic acid for the remainder of the first 12 weeks when you most need the folic.

I won't tell you not to worry about the tummy pains- whilst it is very normal to get all kinds of pains in the early days, worrying about it is understandable, and its best to get the reassurance from the scan.

I would however say that i too had some HORRIBLE sharp pain in the first tri when i turned over at night (and also when i sneezed!). Really felt like i was doing myself a mischief every time it happened! Thought i was ripping my insides it hurt so much! Mentioned it to my doc when i had my appointment, and she said, oooh good, the embryo is digging in nice and deep then!!

Rebekah, most (probably all!) of the pregnancy multivits contain iron, I've had both tesco and morrisons own brands so far and they both do. I'd personally probably go for one of those for now rather than going for a specific Iron supplement ( with its potential yukky side effects). the midwife will do bloods at your booking appointment and also several times throughout your pregnancy and your Iron levels are checked as part of these so you should know fairly soon if you are anaemic. Some ladies do find the first trimester absolutely exhausting though. i was quite lucky for that part but am finding I'm very tired now in the second trimester when most people feel more energetic....trust me to be different lol!!

If you really are worried it might be worth contacting your midwife and asking if you can get that particular blood test done now.

    Hello,

Me and my Fiancee have just found out yesterday that she is pregnant, we are both 20 and have been living together just short of a year and a half, engaged for 6 months. She's been to the doctors today and they've given her Folic Acid and told her that the midwife would call her. Is this what is normally expected? She asked for another test but they wouldn't give her one, we've done 2 yesterday a cheap two line one and a clearblue one which said 3-4 weeks.

I guess we're just not convinced still, do we just have to wait until the midwife calls to arrange an appointment now or do we do anything in the meantime? How sure can the tests be, do we really have to wait until 10 weeks to get this professionally confirmed? She wants to tell her parents sooner rather than later (as in, this week) but I'm not sure if this is best as I still think so much could go wrong, or she may not even be pregnant, am I just in shock or should I be convinced by 2 tests?

Thanks for any help in advance,
    Chris.
