Gin, I LOVE BBT!! Just got my DH to agree to watch it, and he secretly likes it (he is a massive geek at heart so empathises with their techie ways!)
I remember my first tri, and how tired i was. Extra naps here there and everywhere! Enjoy it! Its a great excuse to rest up, and blissfully, it was quite easy to sleep back then. Now in third tri, i fel just as tired, but its MUCH harder to sleep with the big bump, kicks, constant weeing, hip ache etc etc etc ! All good prep for the first months of baby eh!

Enjoy the duck. Its my fave too.

The duck is in the oven. We just had dried porcini and saffron risotto, potatoes a pre-boiling, and will go in the oven soon as well.

We abe both a bit of a geeks, and love the BBT. We saw all those episodes already, but now it is on rerun on E4, I am recording them during the week. I need another sleep now, not dinner...

Best of luck to you Kira for the last trimester!

    Welcome janienewcastle and nikkikayj.

Nikki - I had a mc in March so I know how you feel (also had one before I had my DD). It's my scan tomorrow and I am so worried they will say the baby has died since our private scan at 7 weeks. I know it's unusual but I think after a loss you are just so much more aware that it's not a guaranteed path to a baby.

Gin - all your symptoms do sound pretty normal, the early pains as the baby implants and the body makes the placenta can be quite sharp, plus with all the stretching it's strange how it can all feel. I know it feels a very long time till your scan but all you can do is try and relax a bit, and STOP GOOGLING! (bit rich from someone who has been Googling missed miscarriage all week I know) it only makes you feel worse. If you are really really worried can you afford a private a scan? THe money might be worth having some peace. :)

  • hello to the newbies, and good luck for your scan tomorrow skintchick, I hope it reassures you.

I have my scan date through - Tuesday 13 December!!! Feels like an age - especially as it is after our (usually extremely boozy) Xmas team lunch, so I'm sure my immediate team will twig by then. I am definitely showing now at 7+2, unbelievable!

Morning all. just de-lurking from the 12-24 week thread to add my experience on cramping in early pregnancy. On one particular day I had such severe cramps that i was laid on the bathroom floor pouring with sweat and throwing up due to the pain and even ended up at A&E as I was so scared. The doctor told me it was implantation pains but did give me a 7 week scan appointment to double check and all was fine. I'm 15+3 now and as far as I know all is still well! I also had a tiny bit of bleeding but was told that unless it was soaking a pad in under an hour then not to go back!

Skintchick, good luck today, I have my fingers crossed for you x

I know, I need to stay away from google. I will, as have no energy for anything - and especially since I am starting the training course next week from 9am to 6pm, and since I still need to take the train every day, I will be leaving home at 7am, and unlikely to be back before 7pm! (probably even later, as I haven't even checked the timetable yet!)

I could find the money for another scan, but I am not going to. I don't have time, really, (training all week ), and I have one booked for next week - so will just wait and see. If I really wanted, I guess, I could call the clinic and ask if they could squeeze me in on Friday late afternoon, as course is supposed to finish earlier, but I will be a good girl and resist all the temptation!

Have the BIG boss of the company arriving in the office today, with lunch provided - just need to try and not fall asleep during his presentation!

  • I had my scan on Friday and they said everything was perfect :) So happy!!! They said the baby was the right size and my due date was right so that makes me 8 weeks today. My scan showed the yolk, sac and blood flow were perfect and there was no bleeding or anything unusual and I got to hear the heart beat which was strong and fast.

In the mean time I have become a bit of a invalid as my pelvis is playing up. Weird. I can't site, lie on my bum, walk or bend over as I get a pain ( that makes me want to scream ) in my tail bone, bum and top of leg type area. Got my booking in app with midwife on Wednesday but could this be pregnancy related?

And congrats to janienewcastle and nikkikayj x

Oh, congratulations on your scan, thrifty! The sound of heart beat is amazing - I can't wait to hear it again.

I had pain in my lower back/bottom last week, i couldn't really sit at work, and all I had to do was sit and read a report - not pleasant, I have to say. It passed, and only occasional back ache come up.

Still haven't got my midwife appointment - well, I have only seen GP on Thursday! But I would like to at least get the date, so I can put it in my diary.

My pains/cramps are up today again, was sitting in the meeting, and was quite painful. I which I could see the baby and know all is ok, I even joked to OH that we should check if there are any of those machines that we could pick up on ebay!

  • Thanks Gin. I went private for my scan so I could have it when I wanted. Worth every penny! I had missed mc's before so was super worried and it was awesome seeing the baby. Check and see if there is a place by you where you can have it done,

Cramping is horrible, hope you feel better. How far a long are you? x
