hello everyone.
I'm 5 weeks and 1 day today and really excited! saw my GP today and phoned to arrange a meeting with a midwife and was given a date at the end of December. I'll be over 12 weeks by then! can anyone please confirm if this long wait is normal?
where I come from you have your first scan at 7-8 weeks and visit your doctor once a month (not a midwife). They also do blood tests to make sure you're healthy and to check whether you need any medicines. I really feel let down by the NHS.0 -
Hugs to you skintchick. You are in my thoughts xxx
moneysaver12 - how did you scan go? I hope you are ok xx
silly moo - I was sent to midwife at 8 weeks and first scan at 12 weeks ( am 9 weeks on Monday ) And I need to go to the hospital for my bloods and urine tests next week. I think it just depends on what area you live in!
whowants2brich - glad your scan went ok
And finally I went to the doctors and I do have Symphysis pubis dysfunction.Got to go to physio and likely to suffer until after the baby has been born. Nice.

I really hope I can take one for the team, and that no-one else on this thread loses their baby.
I am praying for you hun. Step away from Google and get some rest. :A
I do want to hear how you are getting on hun. I really feel for you and i so wish that it hadn't happened. I am sending lots of hugs to you and you are in my thoughts. It means a lot to me that you have been thinking about me, especially with what you are going through.

Why are you feeling let down? You are getting early scan, which not many get, and you will be seeing the health professional once a month, which I guess is similar, but instead of midwife you will see GP. I am 9 weeks, and I don't know when will I see a midwife or get NHS scan.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

I'm so glad! What a relief.
I have passed the baby today and am in bed living on Codeine and coping with the blood loss. Think the worst is over now. Thanks all for thinking of me, I like to lurk in here and see how you are all doing. Hopefully I will be back in here in the not too distant future.

Are you from the US? It's all a bit medically managed over there.
Here, you see a midwife, who IMO is better placed to talk to you about pregnancy anyway, and you will see someone fairly regularly if it's your fist pregnancy, a bit less so if it's a subsequent one. It's definitely once a month though at least.
Seeing the MW at 12 weeks does sound late, as your dating scan would usually be then, and if you are having the nuchal testing scan it must be done by 13 weeks plus a few days, so it would be worth trying to move your booking-in (the name of your first Mw appointment) forward a bit in order top ensure your scan is at the right time.
It is not usual here to do bloods before your booking-in, or to do scans before 12 weeks, and there's not need for earlier scans unless you have a history of problems. Even with a history of miscarriages you don;t get early scans on the NHS. However, if you want one you can get one privately, they cost around £70-£100.
What medicines do you think you'd need? As long as you take folic acid or a pre-natal vitamin like Pregnacare, and eat a balanced diet, you don;t need anything else.
If you feel very strongly that you want different care, then you can go private, but it is very expensive. I don't usually defend the NHs but actually i think there are plenty of visits and they do what scans are necessary (12 weeks and 20 weeks). There is no need to be under consultant (doctor) care if you are healthy with no history of problems. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Thankyou Skintchick hugs.
The bleeding has started again, there wasn't as much there as there was on wednesday.Married 09/09/090 -
The work is stressing me out. I came home from my training to find an email from my boss that the client work I love has been reduced for me to concentrate on other work, which I don't enjoy that much, and apart from that, the project that I don't want to do and my boss said last week someone else will be doing is now going to me. I wasn't going to go to the office next week to give myself more rest (well, 2 days at client, a day off and 2 days at home) , now I will have to be 2 days in the office, a day at client and only one day at home. I had a cry, and I keep restarting. I am trying to relax and keep calm, as don't want to hurt the babies, but it only makes me cry more.
Sorry, just feel down. Just as I was starting to enjoy the weekend and get on with the house cleaning...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Moneysaver, I just Googled Subchorionic Hematoma and it does seem as if the baby is most likely going to be fine. I know bleeding is worrying but try and be reassured by the stats.
Gin - why not get your GP to sign you off work for a few weeks?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

It is a nice idea, but I would feel guilty, and all the work would be piled up for me for when I come back to do in even shorter time. I wish there was an easy way.
Besides, I would be too embarrassed/ashamed/scared to get signed off.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
