Welcome penny, sorry your having such a bad time, hopefully it'll pass soon as you're getting close to the magic 12 weeks!

Remember me saying our midwives do a wierd thing where you have a short booking appointment followed by the 'proper' one? Well she text me today with an appointment for next Thurs....when i'm away!! We are coming home on thurs but won't be back till the evening so I rang here. The only other appointment she could give me was at a different hospital 25 miles away at 9.30am. The appointment is for 1.5 hours!!! then it would be a 1.5 hours drive to work so I'd not get there till 12.30...I finish at 3!!!! As i've already had half a day off for my early scan and most of the day off because of the first 'booking' appointment I said I couldn't do it as work don't even know I'm PG yet and so it seriously looks like I'm taking the p*ss. So she's ging to see if someone else can see me. The best bit is, apparently she'd normally see me at home in these circumstances but she's not allowed to as I live out of the area!!! i only live 2 miles from the doctors surgery but apparently the midwives for there don't come from the local hospital, they're from the one 25 miles away and are linked to the one 50 miles away!!! is it me or is it all a bit ridiculous?! God knows what'll happen later down the line if I have problems like SPD or something and can't get myself out to appointments! I've read about lots of ladies on the main PG having home visits in the later stages but obviously I won't get that!!!! I wish my old doc had let me stay registered there, it would have been so much easier for appointments as its a few minutefrom work. He said I couldn't as the midwives were based 30 miles from the hosp where I will give birth but that's only 5 more miles than the current scenario.

Sorry for the essay, it probably doesn't make sense to anyone except me!!!
  • PP, dont be put off of having more due to sickness! I was very sick with all 3 DDs, not enough to be admitted to hospital, but sick everyday all the same. I am doing very badly so far and only found out last Thursday  on the earliest day I possibly could have!! Over the weekend I said antibiotics but I am getting to the stage where I want to avoid events:(:o and keep telling myself when I can tell everyone they will understand :(
My OH asked today if I would miss wine etc, and I don't think I will, although I'm quite a big drinker, I think once I can tell people why I will be fine and I feel better for it already :)

Becc4 - with previous pregnancies (this is my fourth, although only got one live one) I haven't been able to keep it to myself, but now that I have mummy friends, many of whom are pregnant again, some with the due date of my previous pregnancy (tomorrow in fact), I have preferred to keep it quiet. I just don't want all the faux jollity and 'good luck' vibes.

I find it easier once I've seen someone once and not said anything - the it is easy to keep quiet after that. Today I very nearly told a friend, but decided not to because I really do want tpo keep it quiet this time. But then, I'm not excited this time so maybe that's why.

    Morning all

Sorry I still haven't put up scan picture - I will do it tonight if I remember.

I went and bought some maternity clothes - jeans, work trousers and a couple of tops- and they are soooo comfy. My friend was surprised that I aa in them so soon but none of my other clothes fit and it seemed daft to buy bigger clothes then buy maternity ones. I do have a bit of a bump going on but not sure if that's increased food rather than baby :o Been having a look at some bump pictures on 12-24 can't wait until I get a proper bump :)

    Hope you are all well.

    xx

Morning Emsbet and all the other ladies too! I bet it was exciting buying your first maternity clothes, I can't wait, assuming all is well at my scan!!!I also have a small bump although it is larger at time as I'm suffering with wind and constipation quite a lot!!! (Sorry for TMI!!) I think I'm going to go invest in some all-bran, and dried apricots and prunes tonight as I'm rather uncomfortable! I'd go at lunch but I'm in DH's car (mine's in for MOT, cross your fingers it passes) and it's too big, I'm paranoid about getting stuck in carparks as its an estate!! I should really make the effort to get better in it though as I'll be driving it all the time when the little squirt arrives!

Ooh how lovely Emsbet, can't wait for new things, I haven't had new clothes for ages, and some new bras would be lovely, as mine are starting to get uncomfy around the wires.

Saw my heavily pregnant friend last night, confided in her as I've been feeling crap, worried and generally every time the weekend comes round and I'm ready for a break something comes up and ruins it, and this weekend it's uni work! Was lovely to have someone to sympathise with!

Urgh, DH and I must have eaten something not good last night, both been up ill and shivering through the night and I keep saying 'it doesn't feel like MS' but now I'm up I'm really not sure anymore! I think it's now out of my system what ever it was! Supposed to be going to a fancy meal with the in laws tonight, so I hope we both feel well enough to go later on. I have a docs appointment this morning, then off to work so will have to see how I feel!

It is exciting buying maternity clothes. I get excited just getting dressed now instead of dreading trying to find something that fits! :)
I still have quite a lot to get though. I need a new coat (my winter one has already gotten snug) but can't find one cheap enough that I like (I refuse to spend lots on a coat I'll only wear one winter). I also need new bras as I'm spilling out of mine. I need to go get measured though as I have no idea what size I am now!

Hope you feel better soon Amymo.

Lisa have you tried peppermint tea? It probably won't help with the constipation but may help with the wind.

    xx
