Mishka - I was thinking I might like a water birth but I wouldn't want to set my heart on it incase there were no pools available when I went in.

    xx

I'm the same, I'd also like a water birth but am planning on trying to not be too disappointed if it doesn't happen! Am going to do my birth plan based on a water birth though, or maybe I should do two different ones, plan A and plan B?!

I hadnt even contemplated a water birth, although with my second I did labour in the bath for a while and it certainly helped - although i wasnt in there long as i found keeping still (and off the loo :o) a struggle,

Ive just been to get a travel sickness band and was shocked to see they are £9 :eek: not sure if its worth getting if there is no guarantee it will even work :money:

Hope you all have a lovely day planned, we are off swimming in a bit :D

£9! Wow! That's quite a lot! Maybe you could get them cheaper online?

I have a question for all you lovely ladies who have had babies before.... what things did you buy for baby that you didn't use/really need and that you won't be spending money on this time round?

DH and I are starting to think about what we need to buy for when baby is born so we can make sure we have enough money. We have some cash put aside but our car is going to need replacing  as it is getting a bit old and the repairs are starting to get costly. It doesn't help that DH drives an hour and half each way everyday to work in it so it's done a lot of miles! We are just trying to figure out how to split the money and how much we can spare for the new car.

    Thanks

    xx

I had a day off yesterday and boy, did I need it!

We had a lovely, if tiring, day. We went to look at pushchair/travel systems :D We went in with one particular make/model in mind and have come out with an entirely different one. Albeit the new one is more expensive approx £550 it does include a maxicosi car seat, pushchair that holds the car seat, and a pram/carrycot part and also the isofix base for the carseat. We decided on the "what price safety?"

We're not going to be spending so much money on anything else so 1 piece of kit that will see out Elvis and hopefully another is not a bad thing for £550.

We already have a wicker crib that was mine :D and we'll get a cot-bed for when Elvis grows out of the crib. Other than that we're going along the ebay route for the other stuff I'm after, like the glider rocker chair for when I'm breastfeeding (hopefully) and bog standard tesco babygrows and other clothes - if friends want to buy us expensive M&S, Monsoon, Gap etc outfits we'd love them but we won't be buying them ourselves!

Anyone else looked at this stuff or I am just ridiculously organised and want to sort it all out NOW!!!??!!??

We're planning on going down to one car when I'm on ML, we'll sell DH car and keep mine. He'll use it when on night shifts and I'll be able to use it the rest of the time.

I'm very lucky, it's a 15/20 minute walk to the high street and I can easily get buses or trains to the nearest big shopping centres - all good exercise for the post baby waistline ;)

I am (or should I say we this time round, i did it all on my own last time until i met my partner when son was 8 months old so can see me being selfish) hardly buying anything.

Last time i bought an expensive rocking / swinging chair that played music and vibrated, cost about £80 and was hardly used. I went and bought a basic £7 bouncer from mothercare that I have still got and will use. I have kept the pram, cot, moses basket, bath, changing box and mat so don't need anything.

Just buy the essentials like pram, cot, bouncer chair, few sleep suits and vests, nappies (i have already started buying a pack every other week lol). Don't go mad.

    Congratulations Glimmerofhope :j :j

Welcome to the thread. Other than making an appoinment with your doctor (or midwife if you can self-refer in your area) and taking your folic acid there isn't a lot to do at this stage.

    xx

Thanks Emsbet; will keeping taking the Folic and look into the GP/Midwife scenario in the area.

It near killed me having to keep it secret from people until our first scan, especially work colleagues! Just take it one week at a time and it'll soon fly by! :D
