    Hi all,

    Just lurking!

Lucy - easier said than done, but try not to worry. whilst i'm no doctor, I had the brown stuff (and the red for that matter!!) and everything was fine. Brown indicates old blood. if it turns bright red - then call your midwife or early pregnancy unit.

    :)

Hi Everyone, can i join please?

I am 5 weeks pregnant and panicking about affording everything! This is my second child, but the only think i have from DS1 is cot, baby gym and highchair- the rest i gave away (silly girl!).

I know its very early days, however we came into a bit of money lately so went out and bought the baby a moses basket and stand, swing, bouncer, steriliser, bottles and some blankets. I know its risky me buying so early on but i was sooo excited too i couldnt resist- i wont be buying clothes till the 20 week scan though, as last time i bought a lot of unisex early and once i new i was expecting a boy doubled up on boys clothing!
Mummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas :D:xmassmile:snow_laug:santa2:

Really concerned. Woke up and went to the bathroom and noticed a bit of a brown discharge. I would have been due my second period around now. Is this anything to worry about? From what I gather as long as it's not red blood and there's no pain,it's quite common. Still very worried tho:(

I was referred to the early pregnancy unit by my GP, so if you're worried, go see your usual doc, and they'd probably refer you if they think you need it? After I'd been there once, I could ring them direct if I needed them, up to I think 14 weeks?

Gilly - I know how you feel. Some days I could just eat and eat and eat and eat! There's just no filling me up. It happens between about 4pm and 9pm, but thankfully not every day  Maybe once a week :)

Mishka - Was keeping an eye on the TTC thread over the last few days and congratulated you over there, so welcome! :wave

Lucy - I really hope that your sickness goes soon. You're not having the best time of it (((hugs))) With your discharge, I would say if it continues, ring the gp, as aimless said. They can either put you in touch with the midwife or help you directly. Hopefully it's all stopped already. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but best to get it checked out if it hasn't stopped.

Candie_gill - Congrats and welcome  I wouldn't buy too much too early. In the same way that you gave away a lot of your stuff, someone might have things to offer you, so I'd wait to avoid buying anything that you could have had for free ;)

Hi! Was thinking maybe a swaddle blanket at first, then a grobag. Layered with another blanket etc?

blankets are a no no with grobags, they are available in different togs so if you are worried about the really cold nights I would get it in a higher tog or add a layer to baby, the grobag site gives you a good guide here

    Twigpig,

 I saw that many thanks :D

    Morning all :j

    Hello Candie Gill - congratulations!!!!

Lucy - I had brown blood discharge at roughly around 6 weeks and was told old blood. If you want reassurance see your gp, it may help push along your appointments too. Its perfectly reasonable to contact them after all thats what they are for - dont be afraid to ring them. Sorry the sickness has kicked in - sympathies hun x

All - had further thoughts re bathing after your comments, going to use bathroom sink as bigger and its very mse!! we have a deep bath here and there is no way could bend over it as would be too uncomfortable.

Good Luck today Twigpig hope it goes well for you, will be thinking about you!

My OH's only day off this week, thought we'l have a long lie, the house directly behind us is adding a 3 story extension  so we've had cutting through bricks, drilling and lots of hammering since just after 7 this morning. I actually cried with frustration. :o Not to worry though we're off to see Harry Potter now, hopefully it's not too busy.

Hope everyone else has a good day!
