Hi everyone, and welcome to new BFP's!!

Today i am feeling sick still, but had a huge desire for a bowl of mashed potato, so bought a tescos finest side dish on my way home from work, and ate it for my lunch. Yum.

No call from the hospital today, which is the last of the three days they said would contact us if the combined screening was high risk. Fingers crossed not just running late.

I did get a letter about my booking bloods to say my rubella resistance showed very low, so i'll need to be done after beanie arrives. Should be ok as long as i dont meet anyone with German measles in the next 7 weeks! Avoid all children then!

Just reading back a few pages for the questions...

    1) I have a distinct feeling that our beanie is a boy. And a future world class trampolinist (by the level of jumping and twisting at both scans!) I am of course, very likely to be wrong, but only about 4 weeks before we can try to find out at our 3d scan! My family are convinced it is a girl.

    2) List of stuff to buy. I got DH to join Which? so that i could interogate all baby related best buys and advice. My list is now:

    Body suits and Sleep suits
    Socks and scratch mitts
    A rocking crib
A cot bed ( but this can wait till beanie is here and nearly ready to move from crib)
An infant car seat with isofix bases cos need it to be allowed home from hospital with beanie tho (2 bases, so we can leave one in each of our cars)
A travel system pushchair that we can use with the car seat
    An electric steam steriliser
A medela breast pump (so DH can do some night feeds!)

And assorted other stuff, but those are the biggies.
Being a bit an*l about researching and organising, i have a spreadsheet of all the things we are going to need, with a column for which one we want, and another with the best price/which shop

    Happy planning lists everyone!

    Thanks for the welcome everybody!

I am also having the 'is it twins' panic as I'm less than 11 weeks and already have a small bump! Part of me hopes the dates are wrong and I'm further along than they think - but that would bring my due date closer to Xmas!

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SCAN!!!!!! :)

I did the whole twin wind up, and here I am 14 weeks with twins. :)

Congratulations x2 then :D was it a huge shock ?

Kira very odd that you mention mashed potato that is my craving too have to have it covered in brown sauce too OH thinks I'm sick lol

Also very good news you've heard nothing about the screening I would take it as a good sign don't think they would keep you past three days if there was anything wrong :)

Had a tiny bleed this afternoon when i'd been to the loo and have bad back pain too been to the GP who confirmed kidney infection and now have antibiotics feel a little bit fed up tbh she did witness my sickliness though and was very sympathetic she told me if it gets too much to go back and she will give me the anti sickness drugs bless her.

I said i'd think about it don't really want to take anything but am tired of being sick too :o

Funnily enough we are set on a boys name no dispute but lots of dispute with girls names and can't quite agree on something

Not too much of a shock had a scare a few days before so were more worried there wouldn't be one.

Pigpen I definately think you are an exception we have looked through thousands of names and can only agree on 3 boys names none of which either of us are really that enthusiastic about.

Kira I think I will need to learn to be as an*l as you on the list front so far I have figured I will need to get something at some point.

On the name front, DH and i have already agreed on first and middle names for both a boy and a girl. I think we were sorted before we actually had the BFP! Boy was easy, girl harder, so we looked up first names online which were from the area OH's surname came from, along with some from our favourate countries. There is a small debate as to the boy middle name, as i would quite like to use my beloved gramps' first name, but its a bit old fashioned- Stanley, we are going to see what flavour we end up with, and if the full name suits. Otherwise we will use the name of my cousin who died in a car accident this year.

    Hello all forum people.

I can't believe it, had 2 pregnancy tests today and i appear to be pregnant. I'm very excited...gah....can't believe how long i will have to wait to find anything out. Wondering whether to buy the pregnancy that allegedly tells you how long you've been pregnant for. I reckon 2 weeks, but as i didn't actual keep dates of my cycle its harder to tell. Bit foolish on retrospect.

Will try and get a doctors appointment tomorrow, and not tell anyone (apart from DH of course).

    Hi Kira,

Can I add Muslins to your list please? :D They are a god send, especially if you have a baby that spits up.

Also I see you are going to be buying a breast pump. Not sure if this will help but when I had DD I joined the local childrens centre who ran a breast feeding support group. It was free and invaluable to me as a first time breast feeding mummy. Well anyway, they hired Medula Breast pumps out, it was only £5 for three months. Absolute bargain. I am not sure if you have a Childrens Centre close by to you, but it might be worth finding out.

Also I love our isofix, so easy to use. Big thumbs up! We have the maxi cosy one. Its great :D

Absolutely, good advice. They are on the list already, just didnt mention them as a biggie. I plan to get a good bundle of those, as well as several cellular blankets. I have already got a bundle of various washable nappies and wraps, as well as some washable booster pads. Second hand, and different types so we can experiment. Going to get some disposable liners, and a few nappy nets for transferring straight from nappy bin to wash without touching!

Agree on the maxi cosi. I think we are are going to get 2 family fix bases- cost a bit more but can be used for longer, and combine with the maxi cosi seat, which we can use with the mamas and papas Sola pushchair i want!

Welcome ruthybee and congrats  I'd pick up a clear blue digital test. They are like the daddy of tests and show the weeks on them. I think most people here get one after they've had a BFP on another test. I know I did and most people on the Trying to Conceive board on here do too.

Back from scan (hubby took me out to dinner) or would have posted earlier. So far, we're all good. We listened to the heartbeat and he altered the screen so we could see the heartbeat pulse in red. He showed us what it looked like, where everything was (ie placenta etc) and measured the bean at 8 weeks, but said that the 12 scan would be more accurate. I'll go with his dates for now (sorry mozzy, my date buddy). He pointed out everything and gave us 4 mini pictures. Absolutely worth the £90. We know we're not out of the woods yet, but at least we can rule out ectopic etc.......

(I should also add I was a little worried at reading other pregnancy boards about the possible need to internal scan or possible pains afterwards from all the pressure on my tummy, mostly due to my excess flab :rotfl: I needn't have worried, it was a piece of cake and he had no trouble finding the wee bean).

Just waiting for the 12 week scan to pop through the letterbox :j

    PS - No twins :rotfl:
