Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! 2

It definitely made it seem more real for us. The weirdest thing about pregnancy is that at no point has anyone with any sort of qualification (i.e doctor etc) actually said to us "yes, you ARE pregnant". I find it quite strange......
Haha I feel like this too! At neither of my appointments with the doctor or midwife did they do a test to confirm the pregnancy, which I think I was kind of expecting they would... Hey ho, I've done enough tests to confirm it anyway :rotfl:
The booking appointment is lots of questions about your medical history and family medical history, deciding where you want to give birth, blood pressure, blood samples and urine samples taken. My midwife felt my stomach to make sure she couldn't feel my uterus yet (I think that was what she was doing anyway), and that was about it. It took me about 45 mins I think.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Hi everyone.
Great to see all these appointments coming through! It definately helps make it seem more real when things first start rolling with the "official things".
I'm just waiting on the results of my combined screening scan. The sonographer who saw me for my 12 week scan wasnt the helpful chatty type, and said NOTHING to me about any measurements and if they were normal, nor about my date. Had a chat with a lady at work, who is at the same hospital but further along, who told me where to look in my yellow notes to see what the measurements were myself.
Had a peek last night, and it seems beanie is exactly average- crown to rump is dead median for 12 weeks, and the NT fold measurement was excetionally normal too, which is good. Now just waiting on the blood results. Should hear today or tomorrow if i have been given a higher risk level, otherwise, normal results should come through by Friday. fingers crossed.
And yes, for whoever was discussing, always take a wee wee sample with you for any midwife/hospital clinic appointment (not ones which are only scans). They can give you a pot when you get there, but i find it tricky to pee in their tiny pots in a hospital loo, without making a mess!

Hello all.
Been reading the bits about booking with interest, and I wonder if each area has variations as I didn't have to provide any blood or urine at booking, it was just paperwork, she weighed me (partly because I had no idea what I weighed in kilos - too old to work in them!) and took blood pressure.
The samples were taken after my scan. I took a urine sample in the pot they'd given me and then they said I had to provide a 'fresh' one there. Thankfully that was on reception and the woman I saw for bloods was happy to accept the one I had 'made' just before leaving home.
Totally agree on not being told that I'm pregnant - seemed kind of odd to be telling the midwife my due date that I'd worked out on the internet:rotfl:
I think the one thing at booking not mentioned is that they talk to you a little about the scans and blood tests you have. Seems that you do have some choice in which if you don't want them. I agreed to all, but still haven't had most of the blood tests as apparently my body refuses to let them take blood out of it. Got to have the bloods done at 15 weeks now.
Oh, and I'm 12+1 today - YAY!! Probably should graduate to the next board, but they seem so much further along!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Congrats on graduating! :j
Oh yes, they asked for permission for the NT scan and also to test for HIV amongst a few others and both of these are optional.....TTC #3..........0 -

Afternoon All :j
Just caught up with the posts and the lots of helpful questions/info/advice which I am absorbing!!
:grouphug: to those who are _pale_
Anyone finding they are shuffling in bed as can't get comfy?
Also hope when go to midwife she does not 'feel my bump' (am overweight so cant be a 'baby' bump so to speak) if she does she will be in for a shock, think she would probably think about to drop tomorrow  I know I have always carried weight around the middle but this is ridiculous It looks like I have a football strapped to my stomach!!!!!!!! hoping it will go down but I doubt it.
Hope those with scans etc get on well and congratulations crabapple.
Take care

Glad its not just me who can't sleep! I've been tossing and turning for the past week. I don't cope well without my 8 hours a night so I just feel drained during the day.
I'm being spoilt at the moment, my hubby has just bought me a new charm for my Pandora bracelet home, he's been really looking after me well since I found out i was pregnant then with losing my old boy last week. I'm lucky to have him!
Off for a nap on the sofa now!!
Take care.

Hello Mozzy, Jannine and all
Sorry you both have much more sleep deprivation than me, feel for you both. I usually struggle to get off then wake usually around 4 then continue the toss and turn routine with a bit of 'fling the duvet on to hubby' for good measure who then moans into his pillow as he is then too hot. If I leave the window open to get my fresh air we get the additional bonus of a blast of blackbird song at around the same time which adds the early morning convivial atmosphere.
Anyway hubby is currently cooking pizza (he has a limited reportoire) so back up to bed out of the way as hate all cooking smells.
Felt the nausea again but have the added bonus of feeling hungry at the same time so my solution? desperate times call for desperate measures..... I have reached for the 'Royal Wedding Souvenir Mcvities biscuit tin' I was hoping to pass the tin down complete with biscuits but err that dosen't look like thats going to happen now.
I refuse to feel guilty though think the wedding fever was partly responsible for my current predicament :rotfl:
Anyway things are looking up, hubby congratulated me on actually 'doing something' today, that was dusting the bedside drawers, tidying the bedroom and removing the rice crispies that seem to be breeding on my bedside :j its all clean now
My lovely 85 year old neighbour brought me a bunch of stocks to cheer me up which was lovely (had to tell her as could not do what normally do for her at mo). This made up for the fact she told me that she had told a couple of her friends about me  said must not tell anyone else, think she forgot that I told her was not telling people properly including mil until after scan. She told me one friend said that she had the the nausea for 3 months but had an obsession with the smell of shoe polish so kept cleaning shoes when she was pregnant many moons ago (really dont fancy that one..)
Take Care All
