Iamjen- I had thought of not telling anyone, but as I'm 9 weeks roughly and already in maternity trousers for work- that ship sailed. My parents are thrilled, my partners parents are thrilled, though both sets are extremely superstitious about telling people.
I'm glad your midwifery team seems fantastic- I already have doubts about mine as they're led by the GP initially, which hasn't been wonderful so far.... :) Time will tell.

glitter...12th of November is our date from the private scan, which is spot on what we guessed. (We'd been trying, so keeping track of ovulation, etc.). I don't know yet what we're going to be doing for work. Both girls are going to school in the Autumn (but one only a half day), and my plan was to work part-time there, part-time elsewhere and take a course. So now.....yikes! Was planning on talking to them on Friday as the families (and one other that I work for occasionally) were coming to town for this Royal Wedding event shindig. Then, one of the girls' family got another commitment, so I'm not sure what we're doing. Was hoping to tell everyone at the same time, but I think we may end up doing otherwise.

How old are your nanny charges? Both girls are three and I'm sure will be full of questions about where the baby is now...is it a boy or a girl....etc. etc. :p

  • Hi Jen!
    Enjoy your scan today!
    Mine are b6 g4 in my 2day job, and girls 5 & 2 in my 3day job
I'm hoping to go back to work with baby in feb/march but who knows what my bosses will say!!
2 day job wanted to retain me anyway when the youngest started school in September- and my other job the 2yo will be 3 when I go back to work.
I will have to wait and see!

  • Hi ladies - little update from down under...

I told New Job Woman thath I can't go any further with my application - I was good and didn't wait to hear her final offer as I think the money may have just confused me more. She said she was disappointed, but understood... So that feels like a huge weight off my mind. We've also decided to head back to the UK and I feel :) about that. I'm still a little nervous about telling my current boss that I need to come home and then go on maternity leave, but so be it.

Turns out the midwives here in Sydney are snowed under at the mo and though I've got a scan booked for 31 May (12+1) I won't see the midwife until 29 June for the first time)( when I'll be 16 weeks!!!! Should I be bothered by that? I have an appointment with the GP next Wednesday when I'll be just over 8 weeks, but it feels like it'll be aaaages then until the midwife appt.

When should we tell people? After the 12 week scan or after I've seen the midwife? We're happy to wait because we're still getting our heads around it all and aren't quite ready for the overexcited parental reaction.... Saying that I'm also starting to feel v guilty to friends who I'm blowing out or being a sober party pooper... I've been saying I'm on anti-biotics and everyone keeps wishing me well or asking what's wrong and I feel v bad for lying. I was on Skype to a friend back home the other day and she said "ooh your b00bs look massive" - I mumbled something about the top showing off my assets... eek! So it will be quite a relief when we can tell people.

Sorry, I've been bad at reading back... but things have calmed down a bit for me now at work and personally, so I will try and be better at that.

    Take care all :) x

Yay...scan was all good. The baby was moving all over! They've bumped the due date up to 5th of November (please no...the jokes will kill me, lol). I'm sure of my date of ovulation though, within a day, so I'll be curious to see what scan says at 20 weeks.

I haven't scanned any pics yet, but we're doing it later tonight so the man can email them to his parents. Probably not telling my family until Saturday, because they're all going to be together at my folks' house then.

    Yay!

    Hi Monkey

I'm at the same stage as you too. We can be bump buddy's, lol :p. Think mine will be due 3rd Jan, but a few days early so it will be this year would be nice :D. It's nice to have people to talk to here as like you said it's a secret (I hate secrets).

I'm hoping that I don't start to show before my 12 week scan as I wont be able to fit into my uniform in work, and I work with all men who would definately notice if my bum and tum get bigger, lol!!

Bump buddies - how good is that! It will be fab to have someone to compare notes with - YAY!:T

Hello to monkey welcome aboard :)

Fab news on the scan iamjen. Hey bluemonkey really glad you are happy with your decisions too.

Well OH has gone back today :( had my MW appt yesterday all went well, not sure about her though, will withold judgement until next time!!

Am still awaiting my scan appointment, the MW told me that I'm 10+2 today but from my early scan I'm 10+4 not sure which one to go on. Really looking forward to my first scan even though OH is going to miss it. MS has pretty much gone thank goodness, although still have to get up in the middle of the night to have a wee!!!

Going to have an early night I think tonight.

    N'nights

    Missy
