Hiya, you are absolutely right. I'm really meant to be on the other board as I am 18 weeks gone (I just keep reading this one as well). The stretching pains are normal - just be careful when you stand up or shift position because it can really hurt. This is my first baby and I had no idea just to how painful it can be. Being preggo has been a real eye-opener!0 -
Morning everyone, Happy January! Hope the new year has started off nicely for all.
I don't go back to work until next Monday (yayy), so have a few more days to ease myself out of Christmas mode! OH went off to work this morning begrudgingly! :rotfl:
My DS started back at the childminder today too, so I have a whole day to myself...bliss!
I have another early scan at EPU on Friday, when I will be almost 7 weeks. I am so so nervous about itIt seems like ages ago when I had the first scan, but it's not even 2 weeks ago! Time really drags in the first few weeks I find.
I suppose at least Friday will let me know if this is a viable pregnancy, I have to admit I am not feeling particularly confident, particularly after last year.
Rum - the non-alcho mojito's were lovely! In fact the only thing I felt they were missing wwas rum! :rotfl:
Seriously though, they were lovely, and I haven't missed alcohol at all recently..not like me at all! :eek:Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Anyone else back to work & struggling today?? I am cream crackered & I feel green. Certainly not at my most productive!
Not having my usual cups of tea for the caffeine boost, is proving extra tough today! I switched to decaf but some googling has revealed that the 2 brands I was drinking (PG Tips & Twinnings) both use methyl chloride in the decaffeination process which, although only a tiny residue remains, is not the healthy option I thought!
Certainly not swapping one potential risk for one that sounds even worse!! Just thrown a full box of the PG Tips ones in the bin and ordered Clipper decaf online, which are organic.... but I am missing tea big time today!0 -
ktb - yes me too!
I am almost falling asleep at my desk, I feel rough and just want my bed, this is really hard, especially as no one knows at work yet and I recon they think it is a new years hangover still! Even looking at the screen is making my head hurt. I am literally counting down the hours till hometime, I am worried I could fall asleep at the wheel on the way home, I am that tired.
Im trying to keep sipping water and eating regular snacks to keep from feeling sick. People are noticing that I am nibbling all the time and that my snacks are not the most healthy, any suggestions for nibbly snacks to keep the nausea at bay that look like I am doing the traditional January detox?I love decaff twinnings and pg tips
If at first you dont succeed, try, try again0 -
Hi ktb,
Poor you being back at work. Are you not drinking any tea at all? I've been reading the caffeine guidelines and struggling to decide what to do!!
I'm getting desperate to tell someone now!! Got ages to wait though!!

Glad it's not just me Rum! I almost nodded off at my desk too. Zzzzz
I am normally a low carber - so I am finding the constant desire to eat crackers, crisps, toast, cake etc really tough! I gave in to it all over Christmas, but I am determined to get back on my old way of eating as it regulates blood sugar so well & that is beneficial to baby. Although I also usually also avoid most fruit - and I might be a bit more lenient with that.
Snacks wise I'm a bit stumped.... as cheese & nuts (my usual staples) are not massively appealing. I think I'll just have to bring chopped veggies to munch on... they are healthy & refreshing when I feel sick.0 -

Hi justone.... I am having the odd cup - especially if someone else (who knows I like my tea) makes it & I don't want to raise suspicion .... But it is probably less that 3 cups a week & occasionally I'll secretly pour most away.
I know that caffeine has a strong effect on me - and once the placenta is doing it's thing, I personally would rather limit it, so is good practice cutting it out now.
Decaf still has some caffeine - but I figure the odd cup of that, when I'm desperate, wont do any harm!0 -
Hi Jessi, congratulations
Rumfeeble- making the appointments and telling parents has all made it feel more real! Such a strange feeling at the moment.
Ktb- I worked a few days between Christmas and new year I've found it exhausting too! Back at work tomorrow and Friday now, totally dreading it as I've been napping most days.
I'm a tea drinker and I've been trying to limit myself to 2 cups per day. Don't know how I'll manage to stay awake on that but we will soon see!!
Went into town today to try and buy some maternity bras. I don't know if I'm just emotional or what but the shopping trip was an absolute failure. Went into mothercare but couldn't find any staff for a fitting. So went to debenhams but there wasn't anyone free there. Then M&S but their choice was rubbish and no one to do fitting either. Eventually back to mothercare, just bought some without trying and they don't fit now I've got homeHow frustrating!!!
