wow this thread is super quiet! Has everyone disappeared off for Christmas already?
Is anybody still partaking in the odd glass of wine, or are you all being good?
I imagine I may have a small drinkie on Christmas day with my family, and from what I've read that seems to be ok.
Just wondered what everybody else's take on it was. I had the odd glass of wine when I was pregnant with my DS.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hi MV, the latest advice a few months ago was zero alcohol during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so I haven't had any since I found out0
-
I don't really drink much and if I do it's vodka, so I definitely won't be drinking that!
I think a glass of wine here and there is OK. The advice about food always changes. It'll be interesting to see if anything has changed from nearly 3 years ago.
I've cut down on caffeine, trying to have one cup of tea a day, max two. Got decaff teabags but they definitely don't taste the same.
And I'm still eating runny eggs. Everything else I'm sticking to.
When I was breastfeeding you were allowed alcohol, but the advice was to not breastfeed within an hour of having any...so basically 1 unit takes an hour to get out the system...that kind of theory I guess.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Morning ladies,
Hope you are all well! @ mv I had one glass of wine at a work night out a couple of weeks otherwise it would of obv I was pregnant! Otherwise haven't had any or felt like it tbh. I may have a spritzer on Xmas day depending on how I feel!
Just back from a nice long walk, I am normally quite active, hike, run and yoga regularly but have been quite lazy since I got my bfp. So planning in making an extra effort over the next couple of weeks.
Someone was asking about history. I am 30, first pregnancy ttc for 3 months before getting a BFP and 6 weeks 1 day along0 -
I second the decaf tea bags, they are rank. I've completely gone off tea now, im usually a 5 cups a day kind of gal and i never know what i want to eat!Mum of 2 :j0

Thanks for the advice everyone and congratulations to you all!
Am I the only one being a bit paranoid about what I eat / what toiletries I use? I've been emailing companies asking if the products I use are safe (eg the anti-dandruff shampoo I use contains rosemary oil which I think might be a no-no?)0 -
Evening ladies.... another newbie to the thread here. I have been a regular lurker on the trying for a baby thread for the last few months, but got my BFP rather sooner than expected (on 12/12/12!), so realised I needed to head on over here before ever really getting around to posting in there!
MV i followed your story on the other thread and am so chuffed that you are now over here and things seems to be progressing well :j
Congrats to everyone else too! I am 33 y/o, this is my 1st baby and i'll be 6 weeks on Tues. The best bit is how unbelievebly excited my OH is........ the slight downside is that we are currently living with my Mum & Dad, waiting to get our own place, and trying to keep this a secret (as we'd like to keep it for a few more weeks) from my eagle eyed mother is extremely tricky & will only get harder over Christmas.....
I even went to Asda and bought 'fake' wine today as she will get very suspicious when I start turning the champagne & vino down next week. Am on no caffeine/no booze - both of which are going to be a bit of a giveaway if she is paying attention. :rotfl:0 -

Hi MV - I'm still here although I know I should be on the other thread! I'm not touching alcohol at all - I saw a programme about a year ago where they showed a 4d scan of a baby as the mother drank some alcohol and within a few minutes the baby was squirming as though it wanted to get away. It was quite alarming and definitely has had an impact on my thoughts. I used to think a wine spritzer would be ok - but now - I am staying off alcohol totally as that image of the baby squirming. I wonder if its on Youtube - I might see if I can find it - it was a TV programme but I have no idea what it was called.
I have still been eating brie and camembert (they have never caused me food poisioning in the past is my theory!) - so I am not "wholly than thou"!!!:p (I bet I end up with a dodgy bit over Xmas now....!).
Congratulations to the newbies!0 -
Just been looking at the NHS site http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx
There's only one difference I can see from last time and that's the fact that they are not telling you to avoid cured meat (eg salami) anymore. I'm pretty sure last time this was a food to avoid.
In terms of toiletries, I just stopped using my acne cream (benzoyl peroxide) when I started TTC. I never considered any other products I'm using, but I thought the things more to avoid are the aromatherapy oils which I don't use anyway.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
