  • MV - I don't seem to have any symptoms either and its really making me panic a bit, I keep poking my boobs to see if they hurt, I'll probably end up with bruises then they'll bloomin hurt! I had a few symptoms earlier in the week but today, zilch!

I did another hpt and got a nice quick positive so that's stopped me worrying a little bit. I hate feeling so out of control, there is not much I can do to affect any outcome, happy or sad so I'm trying not to stress too much.

Giz, its a big company but I have been here 10 years so most people know me, I don't think the mince pies comment was meant nastily and strangely the bloating tummy has gone for now (another vanishing symptom)

Briefly my story is...... I'm 35, my first pregnancy, was TTC for 19 months before getting our bfp. I will be 6 weeks on Monday so EDD is mid August

  • Welcome yumyums, the only other thing you might want to consider is a pregnancy multi vitamin, but as long as you are having the folic acid, that is the most important. I'm trying to drink more water and get plenty of rest. But I think you got the important things covered. Congratulations and wishing you a healthy and happy 9 months

Hi all! Newbie to the thread here.
I only just found out that I'm pregnant yesterday. I did a test as I thought I was experiencing some symptoms even though my period was only a day late. I had a very strong pregnant line and extremely faint control line which surprised me as it's such early days!

As it's my first pregnancy I just don't know what to expect. Phoned the gp this morning who said I should phone the clinic. They said it was too early and I should phone back in a couple weeks... Is there anything I should be doing? Have stopped drinking and cut down on caffeine. Am taking folic acid as well.

I'd be extremely grateful for any advice! Thanks :)

ETA: what about the flu jab? It wasn't mentioned to me at all.

I'm not sure about the flu jab, I'll be asking about it at my 8 week appointment. I was well over 12 weeks when I had it last time.

Every NHS area is different, but the gist should be around 8ish weeks you'll have a booking appointment which is pretty much paperwork. Then if I remember rightly, nothing till the 12 week scan (which is a long long wait), then there's a 16 week appt, is there an 18? I have it in my head that was when I heard the heartbeat. Then 20 week scan and I forget the appointments after that...they are about every 3-4 weeks then every 2 weeks toward the end, then weekly right at the end.

You'll do a lot of urine samples. Basically if you have an appointment or scan, just take a sample with you!

There's an iron test in there somewhere. Last time I started taking Spatone, dunno if it helped but my iron levels were good. And blood tests.

Ah that's good then. Hopefully just bloat and you won't need the new uniform so soon. Have you got tops that go over your trousers/skirt? Cos you could use a hair band the loop through the button hole and over the button to give you more stretch...

Well after an hour and a halfs wait, I have a sac! Hooray!
Too early to see much else as I am only just coming up to 5 weeks, but she said all as it should be for my dates.

Can't ask for more than that, so I am happy for now. Have to go back again in 2 weeks for another scan. Good they are keeping an eye on me.

I'm another one looking out for you on here too - I remember you were one of the first people to make me feel welcome on here. Lots of Christmas baby-making sticky bean vibes (that now sounds gross - sorry - but you know what I mean:D!) to you Tinkwings! x
