dippy - could you try inhaling vicks in hot water before bed?
I've lost weight because of the sickness but b00bs are bigger already!
Re: prams, the best advice I've had is to play with them - some say lightweight, one handed operation etc. but then are really fiddly. So go to a few places that have display ones and experiment!0 -
I did try steam yesterday but didn't make a difference at all. I have been using the snore strips on my nose and they help at night but I only had a couple as a free sample and they are so expensive! It's driving me crazy!! But I guess I'm lucky i haven't been sick! Especially if you're losing weight because of it :-(
Good idea bout the prams, will have to have a day trip somewhere after christmas, there isn't many places like that round my way. I tink maybe BabiesRus have some out so will go there maybe.0 -

It's getting worse, so bad that I'm not sleeping properly cos I have to breath through my mouth which then dries up completely :-( Eating and drinking is difficult as every time I swallow my ears pop! It's a nightmare, I was using Otrivin, til I read it was bad for baby so now i'm trying Saline spray but it doesn't do anything. Has anyone else experienced this?Or got any advice?
Just popped by to congratulate you and lovecake on your happy scans!:T
I have had the stuffy nose too - with added dried blood - yuck! I sometimes wake up needing some water as my nose and throat are a bit clogged up - been like this for around 5 weeks also - originally thought it was a cold then nothing else cold-like happened, so googled it and apparently its quite common. I can't get rid of it - but do have water by the bed just incase I wake up choking!!!! (and tissues to blow my nose). Its worse early morning when I wake up. Has got worse thankfully but thought it would go - but still with me! Longest stuffiest nose I have ever had!:(0 -
Thank you! :-)
It's so annoying isn't it! I rarely get colds or anything so this is so frustrating. I'm the same, have to have a drink next to the bed for when i wake up with a dry throat. And 'apparently' I've been snoring!! oops. I hope this doesn't stay with me for the next 6 months!!0 -
For prams you have to go try them to see if they're comfy for you to push, fold/unfold and fit in your car (if you have one). John Lewis is apparently quite good for this or see if you have a good independent store nearby. You may want to consider a sling too - and no, not necessarily a structured one with buckles.0

Morning everyone!
On the pram front -A word of advice from a story about my Sister. Don't be pushed into any decisions and make sure you are totally happy with the functionality of the pram. My sis ended up buying a pram that she really didn't like because her OH convinced her to get it (probably being a typical man he was looking at it as some sort of gadget and liked the features rather than thinking of practicality). I'm not saying don't listen to your OH, but go with your gut. My sis was doing most of the ferrying about of the kids, she had a 3 year old at the time and the new baby and one day while trying to fold away the pram one handed and get it into the boot with the two kids in tow, she dislocated her finger and ended up having to go to A&E with the two kids!
Needless to say she was not pleased as she never wanted that pram and thought it was clunky and difficult, but her OH somehow persuaded her to get it. So go with your gut - especially if you will be the one that is doing most of the pram pushing!0 -
I've had a stuffy nose for the last few weeks too. Google "pregnancy rhinitis", as it's quite common. I bought a warm air humidifier for our bedroom which has helped a lot, I don't wake up unable to breathe now
I'm glad we won't have to do pram shopping this time as we managed to get it right last time and still love the one we had for DS, so we'll use it again. There's so much to think about - do you want a travel system? How easy is it to get in and out of your house? How easy is it to manoeuvre around shops? Do you need something that can cope with going "off-road"? Will it fit in your car? (when I had my Mini, ours would only fit if I put the back seats down, so we ended up buying another cheap one which did fit, but which I didn't like nearly as much - so I ended up borrowing DH's car a lot when I was on maternity leave)
It's also worth thinking about whether you plan on having more children and how soon, as it might be worth getting one that can later be converted into a double pushchair.
We went for a Jane Slalom travel system with Matrix seat, as the seat is convertible to lie completely flat. It was brilliant when DS was tiny as we effectively had a carry cot without having to buy one separately. It was heavier than a standard infant seat though, which didn't really bother me as I'm a big strong girl. But we lent it to SIL when she had her youngest and she found it too heavy once the baby got bigger - despite her DD being about half the size of my DS! But SIL is a little petite thing. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -

I had my scan at 11 weeks, and don't need to go back until 20weeks. The dating one is offered here from 10 to 13 or 14 weeks.Mum of 2 :j0 -
Thanks for the advice about scans, Sparkles youre right I would'nt want to take too much time off work for these appointments.
My appointment with the GP was uneventful. I did tell him the correct dates after all (Im no good at lying) He just said that the midwife will look after me and he will only see me if theres a problem, then I made an appointment with reception to see the midwife. A blood pressure check and told not to drink alcohol or smoke and that was pretty much it.
Whats your favourite excuse as to why youre not drinking at a Christmas/New Years party? I have several events to attend over the festive season and Im not sure I can use the antibiotics reason for 3 weeks. If at first you dont succeed, try, try again0 -

That should cover it - just depends on whether you want friends/family thinking you have liver problems!0
