I have no idea about maca root either. Best to ask your GP or midwife I guess...
Scan went well yesterday. Only one in there and a nice fast heart beat :j
I'm very relieved!0 -
Rumfeeble I would check with the dr, you mentioned your appointment is tommorrow so not too long to wait.
As savagehq mentioned almost everything says dont take while pregnant.0 -
The only things they say are safe is paracetamol and gaviscon.0

Thanks girls, I know your right and I should just ask the gp, but I know he probably won't of heard of it. He wouldn't listen when I told him I ovulate late in my cycle and didnt know anything about taking hayfever medicine while ttc and when i told him about a lack of ewcm he looked at me and said something about that's caused by progestorone even I know its eastrogen! After trying for 6 months (i am nearly 36) he sent me away with 'it takes normal people up to 2 years to get pg' after a year I had to throw my toys out of the pram to get blood tests. He also told my dh that we should both get typsy around ov as that's what happened when his wife got pg 20 years ago! I don't have a lot of faith. If at first you dont succeed, try, try again0

Yikes! Maybe you should talk to a midwife instead? Or ask to see another Doctor?...0

At least we've got our appointment through for the midwife - us being proactive rather than the service being efficient. We've also booked a private scan for before christmas, just so we don't have to make any excuses over christmas
Glad scan went well lovecake!0 -
Generally if a doctors prescribes it then it means the benefits outweigh the risks. The reason no drugs (except gaviscon) say they are safe is because they aren't tested on pregnant woman - because no pregnant woman wants to take the risk of medical testing, not because they aren't safe. They just have to be so careful after what happened in the 60s/70s but sometimes the drugs are necessary to keep baby AND mum well.0

My wife was so relieved when the GP told her paracetamol was OK to take as she had a bad headache, so duly took some. Then got home and reading through all the info we got, it said not to take paracetamol in the 1st trimester (apparently). Cue wife worried she's done some harm

Thanks! Definitely worth getting a private one! We want to tell family at xmas too! The doctor said that once you have had a scan and seen a good heartbeat you are fine to tell people. He said my chance of miscarriage was only 1%. As for Paracetamol - I have taken it a few times as I've been getting wicked headaches and unable to sleep because of them. Your OH needn't worry - this is what is says on the NHS website:
Paracetamol during pregnancy
When you’re pregnant, paracetamol is the preferred choice to treat:- mild or moderate pain
- high temperature (fever)
However, as with any medicine taken during pregnancy, use paracetamol at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time.
If the recommended dose of paracetamol doesn’t control your symptoms or you’re in pain, get more advice from your midwife or GP.0 -
That's great news about the scan lovecake, were your dates accurate? Were you as far along as you thought you were?If at first you dont succeed, try, try again0
