    Morning all :-)

Wow how quick time flies! 10 weeks today!!

I ha a private scan at the beginning of the week an everything is looking perfect, measuring just 2 days out which I'm really quite happy about because was talking with my friend and she was measured 3 weeks out!!

Anyway, after my GP appointment it took 4 week for my midwife referral and I still don't see her until a week today!

Hope all you ladies are well :-)

  • I had some brown spotting last night so going to the doctors later to make sure everything is okay and he might refer to EPU. Am hoping so much that bean is okay. Apparently 95% of spotting is normal, as long as it isn't red or heavy, but still best to get it checked out. Feeling very sick this morning with nerves :(

Hi all, an hour ago I had a positive result. I am still in shock now, I wasn't planning on becoming pregnant. Tried phoning OH as he is in work but he is not answering is phone, typical eh? I thought I was 4 weeks but I read it goes from the first day of your last period which makes me 5-6. I have a lot to digest at the mo but I thought I would get it out in the open here as I have not been able to tell my OH yet.

Congratulations drinkupretty! How are you feeling about it (apart from shocked) seen as it was unplanned?

Welcome to the thread - I am fairly new here too. 5 weeks yesterday for me I think. I have my first appointment with the GP next week.

First thing you really need to do is go and get some folic acid and start taking it immediately. It is really important in the early stages of development.

This is a really open and supportive thread so feel free to vent any feelings with us! :)

No idea how I feel atm. Finally got hold of OH he is freaking out saying we can't afford a kid and he is not ready ect ect. He needs time to digest too me thinks. Off to get a second test just to make sure, I will probably pick up some folic acid too and chocolate, lots of chocolate.

I think that is a pretty natural reaction for a lot of men. Even though me and OH had made the decision to try he still had a little freak out! Hehe! :)

We are not on an amazing income ourselves, but with lots of hand-me-downs from friends and family and buying second hand etc. I think we will be just fine while the baby is little.Hopefully by the time he/she needs school uniforms and after school activities etc. we will have a few pay increases in the bag. Plus you have 8 months to save too! :) As long as you can love it and take care of it, that is the main thing. There will be child benefit, working tax credits and other benefits that you might be entitled too that can help out.

I'm sure once he is over the initial shock of it he will be ok. Try to think of the positives that the baby will bring to your lives rather than negative aspects.

Of course, if you decide that this is not the right time for you then you have options - especially seen as you are so early on. People are probably very vocal on this subject on the MSE forum I would imagine so maybe best not to discuss that on here...there are probably better forums to talk about that than here.

Chocolate is a very good idea! :)

It's best to leave guys to have their little freek out session and don't pressure them! It may take a few days but most of them will come around :).

My oh is in her 9th week (and I have been lurking here for about 5!) with our first!. Have a midwife appt on tues and I have decided that I want to be involved with every aspect, even if it is 'boring paperwork that i don't need to be involved with'.

SplanK - good on you, just take something to entertain yourself with in case the queue is long to go to see the midwife! My appointments have all been on time until the last one which was an hour late... and the ones after scans haven't really had a 'time' attached to them so you just join the queue...

Our appt is at 9am, and the place only opens at 9 so hopefully won't be too much of a delay! Hope not as I've managed to blag a couple of hrs from work to 'go see the docs'.... Technically i am not lying ;)
