Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! 2

:grouphug: to lemonmelon and any others feeling a little green. I think green should be made the official early pregnancy colour (or whole 40 weeks in my case...). I also sway between grey, white and green depending on the time of day and how the hyperemesis and eating and drinking are getting on that day . :rotfl:
As for all the new ladies (and guessing some first time mummies to be:)). Try to enjoy the first 12 weeks and just look after yourselvesIn my opinion there is plenty of time to buy stuff after you have had your scans and are feeling well and "hopefully" blooming!
As for midwife appointments etc they all differ from area to area. This is my 4th baby with the same practice (eldest is 14 years old and youngest is 2) and they have changed the way they do things in between me having babies - so I am never sure what to do each time!
Not a lot happens before 12 weeks in most places - a quick initial appointment which I had at 6 weeks (weight, blood pressure and basic details) and then a 12 week booking in appointment which is about an hour long (family history, bloods etc) and the 12 week dating scan. Obviously if you have any problems before then, then you may have extra scans etc (I have had 2 already) but have still had very little to do with the midwives yet - the Early pregnancy unit at my local hospital have dealt with me so far.
Also, maybe buy a good pregnancy book that will answer a lot of your questions? I know the internet is handy but there is so much information out there, even I have been guilty of getting myself in a tizzy after reading so many sites....
Its nice to have a pregnancy book ( I got a new one with my last pregnancy) even if its not your first, and my husband used to read mine :rotfl: As its number 4 he says he has got the hang of it now and doesn't need to read it again! But I still like to..:o
As for when to tell people - I think that is a personal choice. I could never have kept mine a secret till 12 weeks due to hyperemesis with 3 of them and being in and out of hospital. But some people prefer not to say anything until the 12 week scan has given them the all clear. Even if I wasn't so sick I am not sure I would have been able to keep mine a secret from family and close friends anyway- I am useless at keeping secrets!
Welcome to the new ladies and hope everyone else is feeling well!! (or at least not green.) xx0 -

Thanks so much for everything you've said above Hun :-) made me feel so much better and ill certainly be buying a baby book, think ill have a look online tonight.
I'm desperately trying to keep my mouth shut, I've so far only told my best friend but I'm seeing my sister tonight and she is staying over, needless to say the sickness I'm feeling isn't allowing me to eat a lot and so I think I'll have to tell her tonight and explain my soup eating!
I'm definitely going to wait until about 10-12 weeks to buy anything physical but having said that I go on holiday at 12 weeks so when I return home ill be nearing 15 weeks!! How scary is that!!

Me and OH have been rubbish at keeping it to ourselves – all of our parents know (both of our parents are divorced so 4 sets to tell!) OH’s brother and sister know (and so do their partners) and he’s told a few of his friends… he’s like an excited child on xmas eve!!!! Ive also told 2 of my friends but most of my friends will guess straight away that something is wrong as I’ve stopped smoking and drinking (well, I have allowed myself a half of guiness of a weekend) so they will all have cottoned on within 15 minutes of me being in the same room as them! I’ve managed to avoid them the last couple of weekends but know Im going to have to show my face soon!!0

I did read an awful lot of them though!0 -
If you can try the library first, some of them I really didn't get on with as I didn't like the tone. I did like one which had lots of quotes from Mumsnet or Netmums (I forget which!) - think it was this one :

evening!!!
had a very strange dream last night,
i dreamed that i had a c section and gave birth to a fish, who got put in a fish bowl straight away , as its tube that was feeding it was black and toxic
and then the fish was swimming around and all the black bits inside came to the top of its skin..
The end, i cant rememeber what happen next!!
i wish my scan would hurry up , really dragging now!!0 -
Helen, that sounds a very strange dream!
I'm really worried here. I've been bleeding for the last couple of days with what feels like period pain. I've been in touch with the doctor who has arranged for me to have a scan on Monday. Not too sure what to expect and I'm scared. OH has been away working all week and because I havent told anyone yet I have to keep it all to myself and try and carry on as normal. I hope he will be able to come to the scan. Hugs for anyone feeling sick.0 -
hi claretsgirl, fingers crossed for monday, really hope everything is ok. . is there no one close that you could tell who would be able to keep your secret?? maybe your wouldnt feel so alone then.
ive told alot of my closest friends and my husbands family, i do find it helps though having females to talk to , as men just dont seem to get it!!!!!!!
i havent bleed but at the start of pregnacy i was having a lot of period pains , even woke me up in the night, and ive got 2 boys already and never had nothing like this before, after i had my second child the midwife told me the more children you have to more pains you get in your stomach
really hope everything is ok though.
googled my dream, dreaming of fish is normal in pregnancys!! how strange!!0 -
Evening all
Thanks so much for the advice and recommendations
Quite honestly I dont feel that pregnant, a little ache in my back every so often, a wave of nausea a few times a day and some strange achey, pulling cramping type pains through my belly every now and again.
Although having said that I dont know what pregnant is supposed to feel like.
One question though...am I allowed to drink cherry coke?? :P

lizzie b , i drink fizzy drinks , they reackon you should cut down on them or cut them out, to be truthfull , i eat and drink most things they say dont. ive had 2 healthy children with no allegys or ne thing and it didnt do them no harm.
but its really up to you if you follow all the advise or not. when you have your first midwife appointment , your probley get a healthy eating book which tells you do's and dont.0
