Do you want to take my scan date off the list now? Already done and dusted! Suppose I shuold move up to the big thread... maybe in a while! next scan is 7 Sept.
  • Hi everyone, how are you all feeling today?

    Helen, MrsJ, Daisyboo - welcome:wave:

Dundee - my hubby was exactly the same, I really hated him from weeks 5-8. He wasn't mean, just seemed completely uninterested and unsympathetic about how I was feeling. After another huge row/sulk/minor breakdown (all me, him just standing looking bemused) I explained to him how I felt. Not just sick and tired but completely overwhelmed at how much my life had already changed, scared about he changes ahead and very alone. I explained what a difference just a sympathetic noise would make when I'm moaning that I'm hungry but can't eat, and that asking how I am and offering a cup of tea will always make me feel better.

We're getting on a lot better now, I think it's a combination of him being slightly less annoying and me being a bit more tolerant really.

Have a chat with him, tell him what you want/don't want him to say/do when you're feeling unwell or emotional. I think sometimes they really need us to spell it out to them. Good luck!

Today I finally told my boss I'm pregnant. I wanted to wait until after the scan but had to tell him this morning because he wouldn't let me have time off on Monday - I can't miss my scan or wait any longer! So I told him why I need the time off and was quite disappointed by his reaction. First thing he said was:

'That's funny, I was telling someone yesterday I thought you were because you've put on so much weight'

    I've been Money Tipped!
Ok. I'm going to be brave and ask to join you guys.
BFP Saturday and reckon I'm 5+2 today. Had wicked stomach cramps on Tuesday night (almost like AF back) but no bleeding or spotting so fingers crossed it's still in there. Phoned to book in at GPs today, but can't get in until my day off on 12th Sept anyway.
A bit weird really, doesn't seem real. No symptoms yet. No doctors confirmation, just feels like I'm playing at it!

Good morning ladies, thought I'd check in to see how you are all feeling and to update were my wife and I are at with this first pregnancy. Yesterday after what felt like an eternity since the last emergency scan we had the midwife booking appointment. Well what an extremely lovely straight talking lady she is and to put the cherry on the cake she lives literally around the corner from us and I mean about 15 houses away. She was joking when she asked about home birth or hospital etc, when my wife said hospital she said are you sure if you have it at home I can finish watching tv then nip round to yours and deliver your baby.
Its strange to think that we pass her house everyday, I am friendly with her husband, know her three children yet had no idea she was a midwife. Anyway she ended the meeting by saying that if we had any questions or concerns feel free to go round for brew. Now that is service!!
The only downer was that by the time we had finished the meeting the scan department was shut so we are making the first proper scan appointment this morning. Sorry for rambling but I'm excited (can you tell). I didn't realise that the hospital charges £4.00 per scan picture.

That sounds like a very reassuring appointment after all the stress you have had so far. I have my booking appointment this morning and I presume once this has happened they will then forward my details to the hospital to book my first scan. I will let you know if i can find out how much the hospital charges for pictures. Last time i had one was 5 years ago and I cannot remember how much i pad then but i have seen some people on other pregnancy forums mentioning that their's have cost anywhere between free and £20!

    Hi Binkyboo,

We were actually given the number to book the scan appoinment ourselves, which I much prefer as it gives me a bit more control. I am sat at my desk in work on edge waiting for my wife to call once she has booked when they open at 9am.
  • Big Recommendation Coming Up:

I know I have recommended this lady before but I just want you all to know about her as she is amazing…her work is really good and she charges such a good price.

Stacey Clarke @ She’s Sew Unique www.shessewunique.co.uk/ (she has a facebook page too which has so many pictures on!)

She has already hand made me a custom cot bed set (1 x Cot Bumper & 1 x Quilt) and 1 x Crib Bumper and a Taggy Blanket for just £75 inc P&P… a cotbed set from Disney store, Mamas & Papas etc alone costs more that alone without the P&P and the Crib Bumpers and Tag Blanket!!!

    I have now just ordered:
    • An adult man red fleece all in one (with feet) with easy access to pee. Embroidered in swirly gold (or white) on the chest 'Daddy B' for £25 inc p&p
    • A matching Baby 0-3 month red fleece all in one (with feet) Embroidered in swirly gold (or white) on the chest 'Baby B' £12 inc p&p
    • A Tag Comfort Blanket: Patched from Fabric 180 (Cars) and the a Complimentary colour satin. Backed with Red or Baby Blue Fleece with Red & Baby Blue ribbons round the edge as tags. Embroidered with a name and D.O.B for my friends newborn £6 plus £1.50 P&P
    • A Pad & Crayon Holder: Fabric 172 (Princesses) Embroidered in Pink to say ‘FRIENDS CHILDS NAME’ ‘Big Sister’ for £10 plus £1.50 P&P
    • And a cotbed set (quilt and bumpers) made from fabric 175 treasure map with a white, cream or powder blue fleece back. £45 no extra p&p (This is for my parents house)
Total she is charging me is just £101 inc all the postage for the above which I think is an amazing price for what I have asked for and I wouldn’t be able to buy such quality stuff in the shops for less than £180 (I already looked about and nothing was as good as what she makes either!)

I promise that I do not know her personally but she was recommended by a friend, who found her through a friend…you know how it goes….

I just love her stuff and I want all you ladies to have a look and consider it before you part with your hard earned cash on something that is just ok! (Obviously if you got yours super cheap or a freebie this might seem a lot to part with but I have saved a good £150 by using her based on what I was going to buy before!)

    Dizsie (28+6)

P.s I am going to post this on Pregnancy board too so sorry if you read it twice because you still lurk on there!
