Good morning ladies I hope you are all well, as a bloke I have been trawling through quite a few websites and forums etc to try to prepare as best I can for the arrival of our first baby.
I've seen plenty of parenting books but I came across a book that I've just had delivered by Amazon £6.19, its called " COMMANDO DAD". As you can imagine it was written by an ex soldier and I think its fantastic, if you go to the website commandodad you or you other halves can read a sample.
It really is written like an army training manual, calling the newborns,
BT's or baby troopers.
Toddlers are reffered to as MT's or Mobile Troopers.0 -
Well... I may havE spoken too soon about feeling positive. :-(
Was stood in the kitchen last night and felt something something coming out. Went to the loo and there was bright red blood in my knickers, and then a bit more when I wiped. Phoned midwife and EPU and went in. After waiting for AGES a doc finally said that they're only interested in my health really (not the baby's) so unless I was writhing on the floor in agony I wouldn't get a scan until Monday. I was in no pain, and no more blood came after that initial trickle. So came home none the wiser really.
Not had any more bleeding or any pain but feeling down about it. After 11.5 weeks I really thought it was going to be ok and now there's a huge question mark over it. Cancelled lunch plans with friends today, I don't think I want to see anyone until after Tuesday now.
Flint - your wife had bleeding yes? How did that work out? There's lots of stories online about positive outcomes but they're mainly about brown blood whereas mine was def bright red. Altho like I say it was only the one batch, nothing since.0 -
Omg I'm sorry they were so useless at hosp! How awful! I have everything crossed for you and seriously hope that it was nothing. I can't and won't say I know how you're feeling coz I don't but I'm sending you millions of virtual hugs <<hugs>>. Please keep us updated!
Ps. I would think (not that I know anything medically or anything) that no more bleeding is a good thing! Keep strong xxSaving money like a trouper...0 -
findingmyownway - I have had bleeding with all 3 of my other pregnancies - the first at 8 weeks was that heavy I was hospitalised - it was very heavy. Two of them were bright red blood and I had pains too.
Sometimes the bleeding cannot be explained but that doesn't mean anything is wrong. None of mine had any explanation.
There is no point saying try not to worry, so I won't
Fingers crossed everything is ok x
PS Echoing dundeediva - that hospital sounds useless! They could have scanned you to put your mind at rest.0 -
Thanks Dundee and chonorla. Really hoping it's a one off! I did think the hosp were pretty carp, I guess 9pm in a Friday night is bad timing! My local EPU (went to big city one last night) opens at 9am on Monday so might give them a ring. Tuesdays's scan was supposed to be a nuchal one - does anyone know if that would b done by same person as one looking for cause if bleeding? Or maybe I'll need 2?0

If you would like to be added to the list, or notice something incorrect etc, please if you could highlight it in red in your response, it helps me to keep up with the list.

Dundee - hope the heartburn goes away soon! Glad to hear at least it's better than the nausea...
Findingmyownway - sending big ((hugs)). Sorry to hear the hospital weren't very helpful, and hope you get much better treatment this week. Glad to hear bleeding has stopped in the mean time. Please keep us updated.
Flint - thanks for recommending that book, nice to have a dad-to-be giving his perspective!
2b - thanks for the list. How are you doing?
AFM - still no symptoms really although my boobs have been a little bit sore. I'm having a bit of an anxious day about it all, I made the mistake of doing a test this morning and the line was quite faint on an ic, so I did a digi and it still says 1-2 weeks, and I'm sure I must be a minimum of 5 weeks (so should get at least 2-3 on a digi). I've had a look online and a lot of people say not to trust the conception indicator as it can be quite unreliable, but I think it's just panicked me that my HCG levels might not be rising.
I think I need to keep away from the tests and just try and relax a bit0 -
findingmyownway - fingers crossed for you. Made even worse by the hospital being so dismissive. Only a couple of sleeps until Monday, you'll know what's up then. My friend had early bleeding and had a similar response (yes, we'll scan you early... how about Thursday next week !?!?!?) she paid for private scan and it was all good news. Wishing you similar outcome.x
MrsJ - avoid the tests! I've been tempted, just to check again to see if it was an odd duff one that came up with BFP, will just have to stick to the no show of AF means there's a little bean in there. Similarly symptom free too at the mo... seem to be SS more now than I would let myself before my BFP!
2ba3c - loving that I'm now on the list, thankyou. Ironically feels the most real part of this.
I'm booked in with GP a week Wed (can't get sooner due to work commitments), so hopefully they'll be friendly.... the receptionist was nice, said I needed an appt because I'm pregnant and she said oooh congratulations (she doesn't know me), when can me fit you in)
L.xxx0 -
Thanks lazywife - it's reassuring to hear from somebody who is at the same stage and not experiencing any symptoms (yet!). I'm definitely SSing more than I ever did when ttc! You are right, no show of AF is a good symptom in itself, and a positive HPT (or 8....), so for now I will try and relax
Hope everybody's having a good day0 -
Ive not got many symptoms atm, mainly sore b00bs, but i am waking up at night to pee which i never do!
We picked up our buggy/pram and carseat yesterday :j the dogs have done their routine investigations of it and have found it acceptable lol, and i have spent today getting to grips with swapping it from pram to buggy and back, ive got it all worked out though it did take me 20mins of messing around with it to work out how to release the car seat once i'd locked it on the buggy! Finally found a lever bit on the back of the car seat
Turns out my cousin (due in november) has the exact same pram!I'm not a bloke! :rotfl:My real name is Sinead, Sid is my nickname :rotfl:0
