Morning all! I'm back from my hols and though it was fab, I was grateful for my bed and en suite bathroom last night!!

Re scanning- for both of my early ones, I drank a 500ml bottle en route. For the first one, the sonographer said I had a very full bladder, but it didn't feel that full and for the second, I was sent to the loo half way through as they wanted to make baby move and again, it didn't feel that full!

I guess it varies from person to person and I guess they say full as better too full then too empty

My 12 week one last pregnancy was a full bladder jobbie - add in our clinic is invariably at least an hour late and it's eyewatering!

Miscarriage consultant who'd been giving me weekly scans earlier than that was very much of the mindset that the full bladder thing didn't matter though so it depends who you get a bit!

  • Happy Sunday Ladies :)

Hope you are all having a lovely day of rest (or as resful as possible with children and regular trips to the loo hehe)

Have been given a date for my booking in app with the MW and also a date for my first scan :):):) I have the same MW as I had with my DD so very happy as she is lovely!!

Booking app on the 30th and scan on Sept 4th, starting to feel very very real now eek!

OH is under strict orders to get the time off work to come with me for the scan but as he is self employed he needs to take all the work he can, fingers crossed nothing comes up that stops him coming!

I'd rather go to the booking in by myself, he is a complete wimp with needles lol i'd rather not spend the app worrying about him fainting!!

I know it's a way off but will you ladies be finding out if you are having pink or blue?

I havn't before but am a little tempted as either DS or DD will end up sharing a room with baby, and it will have to be the bigger room so a swap around and re-decorating may be needed, which I would rather do before baby comes with just two children to keep my eye on!!!

On the other hand I like finding out when baby's born, kind of feels like spoiling the surprise otherwise!!

Sorry for the long post, I don't get on here as often as I would like to keep up with you all, and apart from sickness and bowel changes !!! I hope you are well :) xx

    Hi MO2B!

Glad to hear you have the same MW as you did with DD, a nice midwife makes all the difference and yey for scan date!!

We've decided we are going to find out - but what I didn't realise was how strongly some people feel about not finding out! My sister straight off the bat told me we shouldnt (er, our decision, thanks!)

I also think my MIL would just die of impatience if we didn't find out and tell her!

There is a small part of me that would like to leave it (DW is firmly in the camp of finding out), but things seem to be so gender specific these days (and I'm not say colours SHOULD be gender specific) - that it seems difficult to get everything you need? Maybe I am completely wrong - tbh, I haven't spent a lot of time looking in shops, been waiting to get to 12 weeks.

Good morning ladies I hope you are all well and had a nice bank holiday break. My wife and I have the Midwife booking appointment on Thursday this week, I believe then that we will be given a number to book a scan which hopefully won't be too much longer after this. My wife works at the hospital so hopefully should be able to pull a few strings to get a quicker appointment.

I am not the most patient of people so having to mark off the days from the last emergency scan to this Thursday has been like an eternity, besides I am literally bursting at the seams with pride and want to tell all my friends and family.

I didn't have a full bladder at my 12 week scan adn it made no difference. I think it might depend on what technology they have at the hospital.

So I'm officially 12 weeks today - hurrah! Had a horrendous tired day yesterday though. Feeling better today. Althuogh I'm now starting to taper off my steroids as I've hit the 12 week mark so I'm watching out for side effects there. Think I can already feel a muzzy head coming on. Bleargh.

Hey all, had my first midwife appointment this morning and was bombarded with information! The midwife seems very nice and is of the traditional old school type of midwife which my husband and I prefer. 11 pages of forms to fill out though and was surprised by the question regarding to debt. What has that got to do with anything?!
Lots of things to decide upon and check, like do we want the nuchal scan and am I getting enough vitamin D, I filled out the form for free dental treatment (yay!). Had my blood pressure checked, weight and height all measured and she had a gently poke around of my tummy. I suggested she didn't press too hard as I was feeling particularly pukey this morning! Came away with a huge wad of leaflets so will have fun reading them all. I need to see her again in October.

    Hi all,

Just a quickie, as I'm properly exhausted - 4 hour round trip to Heathrow this morning, and a visit to the docs who confirmed my platelet count has dropped to it's lowest level yet (I already suffer from Thrombocytopenia), so will have to see what this means.

So tired, need to go nap.

    xx
