dunddediva -Having had hyperemesis with my first 2 pregnancies (and just normal MS with the third), I was also offered anti-nausea tablets - I refused because like you, they said they were not to be taken in the first trimester.

My friend was given them and her Midwife took them off her and binned them straight away!

I spent most of my 9 months of my first pregnancy on a drip in hospital due to dehydration and losing 3 stone and the first 6 months with the second one - So I am fully aware of how awful you can feel. And although I did try some medication after the first trimester in both - they did absolutely nothing for me, so I stopped.

My doctor was always great, and although work were very supportive through both pregnancies - I have very recently started a new job and am not sure how they are going to react if I head the same way with this pregnancy, which sadly appears that way....:(

And for those that are worried about losing weight because of MS - I lost 3 stone with the first (I was like a rake with a huge belly when I gave birth) and 2 stone with the second (I had plenty to spare by then :)) - I did go on to have 3 large 9 1/2 lb babies so it clearly never harmed them in anyway! (One induced 2 weeks early due to size of him.)

So I think you should phone that Dr back and not take no for an answer! MS is a miserable business and for most a short term problem that we just have to do whatever we can to get through!

I am currently living on Preggy Pops and Vimto at the moment and have more than my fair share of extra padding to lose this time, so am not too concerned yet !:rotfl:

Its all worth it in the end though, and despite feeling so rough I am getting just a little bit excited about the new addition to the family.... :D

Oh gosh, so sorry to those of you suffering with MS. Dundeediva, I do agree with chonorla, call back the Dr and don't take no for an answer! Good luck honey!

A friend of mine suffered miserably with hyperemesis and lived on Calypo lollies throughout. Her work canteen ordered her a big box in!

Chonorla, fingers crossed things aren't heading the same way for you -but if they are, I do hope work are understanding.

I went to my GP about all my fears this morning, lack of symptoms, headaches and just 'feeling' like something was wrong. She was LOVELY and got me into the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital, where I bumped into the head sonographer (we have a bit of a history, after a complaint I made about someone else a few weeks ago) - and she saw me immediately.

Baby is fine, saw heartbeat and still measuring on track. OMG - the relief, I could sit here and burst into tear any moment.

I know I am being a basket case, it's hard to keep it together when there is so much at stake. How does everyone else manage it?!

    OK, boohoooing has started!

    Hope everyone is OK xx

It gets easier. As your pregnancy progresses there'll be more obvious signs that everything's OK (like a massive bump kicking you in the heart :D) and you'll feel less anxious. Plus your hormones tend to calm down a little once you're in the second trimester.

I was just the same. Having a baby makes everyone worry but I do think that having an IVF baby adds that extra pressure to your pregnancy. The first bit's the hardest x.

Hate to break it to you but the wait after 12 weeks until 20 weeks / you start feeling movement is even longer, as (for me anyway) all the symptoms (aside from the bump) vanished and there was no sign I was pregnant at all... And they didn't check heartbeat at my 16 week appointment either, so that's 8 whole weeks of... waiting!

OK I had one heartbeat check from a friend who is a midwife just before my 16 week appointment so I did get to hear the hearbeat once, but that was luck rather than the NHS!

Unless you can trust yourself not to go crazy with one then don't!!! It isn't always easy to find the heartbeat...cue more panic

I have one and I use it from time to time for OH to hear but I would use it 3/4 times a day to check he was still there if OH didn't give me such a telling off at the start...:rotfl:

I wouldn't get one. We have one (given to us by a friend) but haven't used it yet. The ones you can buy aren't as strong as the medical ones and you need to know what you're looking for, even the professionals can struggle to find the heartbeat sometimes, and if you can't find it yourself you'll just freak out even though it's probably nothing to worry about.
