Congratulations anibell - what a lovely honeymoon present!

I bought some non-alcoholic beer about 6 weeks ago (Bavaria I think). Its really nice and refreshing. Not had any since - just felt too ill!!!

Zcrat - good luck for tomorrow, hope you get a good nights sleep. Still don't have a date for mine; booking appointement tom so will hopefully get a date then.

Liking the idea of stockpiling essentials, sounds great. (Although not managed a full shop yet - did a bit of one last week and boy did I feel ill).

Hope you're all enjoying the sun; everywhere looks so much better with the sun shining.

Feeling fat today! Managed two full days if eating proper meals (well, still plain but actual meals) and feel like any weight I've lost has gone back on!

Do any of you know if its ok to take calcium supplements? At the moment I cannot stand milk or yoghurt and am eating very little cheese so am worried about the lack of calcium.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun.

Work today was fine. Felt rough this morning but cleared by lunchtime (yeay!). Struggled doing the kids breakfast this morning though. The smells were making me very queasy.

    xx

    Hi everyone

I had a lovely weekend - it was my hen weekend and so spent it with all my friends. They had hired a luxury country cottage type place near the coats so it was great and luckily very pg-friendly. I don't think anyone noticed I wasn't drinking which is very amusing and will make telling them after the wedding even funnier!

I have felt really tired today though, barely left the sofa and so glad i had booked it off work.

I am also at the hard belly stage.. am only 6 weeks (almost 7)... !!!!!!. Thankfully still have my layer of insulating fat that will stop people asking if I'm pg or just fat for a while :D

I guess your uterus really does rise faster with your second.

    Evening everyone

Touch wood, I've been feeling less icky today and able to eat a bit better. Mum and I had a picnic lunch with the horses (since when was it a good idea to have a picnic with a free range pony) and she cooked me her famous veggie lasagne for dinner, which was yummy!! I have been a bit concerned that my diet has been so shocking (I've literally been eating what I can keep down) so I'm hopefully coming out the other side now. I'm 10 weeks on Saturday :D

No sign of midwife or scan appt yet. The scan I'm not that bothered about, as I've already had one, but I just want to know I'm in the system! Patience, Mille! ;)

    Hope everyone is ok xx

Findingmyownway - that is amazing if you managed to get throught your hen without drinking!! Do you honestly think they dont know or do you think they might be secretly whispering amongst themselves "bride to be is obv preg, how funny she thinks she can hide it"!!

Hee hee, its very possible I guess, but my friends are more the type to come out and ask rather than speculate.

My bridesmaids knew the situation and so kept making me 'special cocktails', which everyone assumed were some strong concoction. We stayed in on an evening playing games etc and so there wasn't a bar round or anything - everyone just kept helping themselves from the kitchen :p

ETA: one sub-group of them has emailed this morning to suggest a trip to alton towers in september... so doesn't look like they guessed!

Does look like you got away with it! That's very accomodating Bridesmaids! When do you get married.

Had my scan this morning and all seemed well. Heard (and saw) the heatbeat and 2 arms, 2 legs and a head! (Although sonographer laughed when I asked if it had legs yet because I couldn't see them so very kindly showed me different views of the baby so I could see them!)

She said the nuchal fold measurement was less than 2 and they see an indicator for Downs as 3+. I was all ready to tell people from today but DH has pointed out we don't know the results of the bloods yet. I'm not sure I can hang on for potentially another 2 weeks! He's said it's my decision.

I think (in fact I know) that if we had to make choices at this stage I'd definitely want close family and friends to know. The difficultly is that once the news is out, it's out and will spread like wildfire.

What do you guys think/what did you do?

We hung on but remember bad news travels faster than good - if it's low risk it will take a while for the letter to arrive (in my area if it's high risk they'll phone asap). There must be a reason they do the blood as well (perhaps it's because even if the measurement is 3+, it could be fine, or perhaps it's the other way round, I don't know!). As they sent me for the blood after the scan, even though the measurement was 2.1 (I think) I presume it must be either way (or perhaps they don't want to give possible bad news unnecessarily by scaring those who are sent for bloods).

    Thanks savage.

I've just googled it and they measure some hormones in the bloods too which if you are at risk show at increase levels. That info plus age/family history/nuchal scan then give you the high/medium/low info.

Apparently the nuchal test alone picks up 77% of potential problems but the bloods and other factors pick up 87%.
