I really need to find out childcare costs. Just to make sure its worth it actually working.

I need some advice! What age is reasonable to take a child on holiday? My reason is we booked a holiday to Mexico and would return 2 weeks before im due. Travel agents have suggested i use the £450 deposit i paid to transfer to a 2012 holiday but im so unsure as to what to do.

I think from about 4 months old is fine. We took my goddaughter when she was that age to Malta and it was fantastic. She was fed as the plane was going up and coming down to prevent ears popping and she basically slept most of the day in her pram meaning that we were still able to relax and enjoy our holiday. The only thing was you don't get a luggage allowance for baby unless you buy them a seat on the plane - but this wasn't a major issue.

It was a lot more difficult the following year when she was over a year old as we had to constantly stop her wandering off, falling in the pool etc. She was fidgety on the plane & it's difficult to entertain a one year old for hours in a confined space, the younger the better IMO!

    Afternoon ladies

On the above I say it depends what sort of baby you taking and what sort of toddler.
My DS would have been easy to take on hols at either stage - my DD would have been a nightmare at either stage.
    Sorry no help whatsoever there!

I go on maternity leave tomorrow :T - I am just in for the morning and then I'm off - I got written confirmation from HR only a couple of weeks ago of the arrangements as I'm entitled to 6 months paid and 3 months SMP so I am lucky.

I've been to the midwife this morning for my 34 week appointment (which I forgot about last week so we rescheduled it for today:o)

She took some more blood for the hospital which apparently they need before I go in to theatre and then asked me to get up on the bed so she could have a feel of the bump and measure etc...
Anyway she was whittling on about how it was a lovely bump and so compact and all baby blah blah when I felt a tickling sensation on my arm - looked down and there was blood spurting from where she taken it!
It went everywhere - all over me- the floor - her desk - it was like a scene from a horror movie :rotfl:
I tried to grab at some tissues but was a bit stuck still lying on my back.

Anyway we managed to stop the blood pumping out but her office looked like the set of SAW when I left it :o
She mentioned moving to another room while the cleaners came in - how embarrassing - trust me! :o

I like traveling and holidays very much and as a result both of my boys have travelled abroad a lot from an early age. :o. I have never found it a bother at all taking them anywhere. Most hotels have travel cots though I never used them as I much prefer the samsonite pop up ones with inflatable mattresses which aren't the cheapest but have proven a great investment as I have more than had my moneys worth out of them! :). Feeding was never a problem as the rest of the world just about seems far more child friendly than here :o. Sterilizing was really easy too as bottled water comes in 5l bottles and Milton is simple enough to add. Pushchairs are the hardest bit tbh as you have to worry about the airline destroying it en route and also for a small baby how you are going to manage sun protection. It is all easy and totally doable though. :D

Bad times  Do you suffer with Hayfever? Mines been playing up this week

I have allergic rhinitis all year round, for which I took Beconase.
I tried to take a regular rest from the Beconase, but after a few days I really needed it.
It was at this stage I started oil pulling, and it seems (to me) that one of the side effects is that it removes the rhinitis symptoms.
I did not start a new Beconase spray, and I have not used it since - it's been 6 weeks.

When I stopped oil pulling for a couple of days, the rhinitis symptoms returned; so I try to do it every day now.
(I feed the pets and prepare packed lunches while I'm pulling oil.)

I bought a sneezer beam at the same time I started oil pulling.
I never used it; so I gave it to my daughter for her hayfever.
She finds it effective, and has also stopped using the spray.

If you want to avoid medication, I think oil pulling could be a safe alternative to the usual hayfever remedies.

Jobs yes I forgot - I am a Project Analyst (have been in same job over 20 years which basically means I use spreadsheets/numbers to provide information on various Government projects to whoever requires it) - I plan to go back to work hopefully part time after 9-12 months of maternity leave.
I am also a mum to 2 pretty darn gorgeous children and soon to be 3 :D
