I stayed up really late last night and I think the baby may be nocturnal.. it was boogying away from about midnight -1am.. I have a feeling it may be quiet during the day after its middle of the night antics.. it can soon stop that behaviour!!!
What do you mean by maternity budget? what kind of things are you meaning to include and I'll see if I can help..
Hopefully the night booging will stop and you can get some sleep and feel movement in the day, best of both lol
Budget wise, i am trying to think about the things that i will want/need to buy, all bills etc are budgeted for as is food etc, but anything that i want to actually do in the day time, like go for coffee with friends, go to baby classes, playgroups, swimming etc will all need a fund, just like things for me (which to be fair i dont buy frequently) like books, clothes etc.
I think we are probably looking for a random figure from experience like £60 a month or something so that i can work out how far my savings so far will go and can think about when we will need to crack into them after my maternity pay has finished (since i am hoping i wont have to go back to work)Lol - hope I didn't come across like the breastfeeding gestapo then! That's one of the main reasons Im giving it a go - formula is so expensive and I cba to get out of bed in the night to make a bottleMaybe not the best reasons but ho hum!
I totally agree, OH and i have been keen on breast feeding from the start if i am able, the cost saving makes it definately worth while, and my logic is i've carried these beasts around for the last 28 years, they can now prove themselves useful:DThank youas long as we know he can definitely take the leave we can budget for him not earning any money for a week. We are planning for him to have a week Paternity leave and then 2 weeks paid holiday leave.
Thank you for the other info on cost of formula and nappies!
OH is going to take 1 week paternity and 1 week holiday - he would get the 2 weeks paid but as SPP would leave us with a short month its best to use his holidaysPlus, if we need to he can take the 2 weeks paternity and the weeks holiday on the end, we just need to see how it goes

Puzzled I think I am allowing £20 per week as this is roughly what the child benefit is anyway, so someone must have worked out that this covers the costs... I will add another £10 I guess of our own cash for extras like bus fare, snacks maybe etc.
Useful to know PigPen that around 8 nappies per day is what to expect - we will use disposables for around a month, so I need to use my vouchers up and get some more.
We went to McDonalds and were bad... 2 x Oreo McFlurrys, 1 x chips, 1 x double cheeseburger for OH, and one apple pie... naughty! I wasn't sure about the McFlurry but couldn't resist as had never had one before and I am sure that will be the last one for a while, as it's much more in a pot than I thought.:):)

nappies .. basically you change them when you feed them so newborns feed every 2-3 hours so about 8 feeds in 24 hours is usual.. TBH unless they poo I don't bother changing them in the night.. the disposables manage fine and it reduces the amount of disturbance baby gets when you want to be asleep! And don't ever change them efore a feed.. they always poo in the middle or straight after they are fed.. so wait until then!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Hiya,
Does anyone know which of the baby clubs are good ones to sign up to? I keep hearing mention of free changing bags and breast pumps but don't know how to sign up to them!
Thanks,

I am not great with the clubs but I have definitely signed up with all of the supermarket ones and the boots one but there are loads more out there including signing up to all of the baby product websites such as pampers as they bombard you with money off vouchers.0

I have never found any of the vouchers to be much use.. they are all for bizarre things I am sure noone ever buys!
Boot one gives the free bag but you can barely fit your purse in so as a decent changing bag it is useless.. I charity shopped mine!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Good morning everybody.
I totally get the insomnia thing as it is driving me daft but I am still viewing it as training for the sleepless nights ahead.. I am trying to catch 10 mins catch up whenever I can through the day.....but with a 2 year old that is not really happening very much just now! :rotfl:
Sending lots of labour vibes to the ladies who need them too.0
