I'm also hoping this baby brings me closer to my mum.

When I had my first baby it definitely brought me and my mum closer. I had been a nightmare teen in her eyes (not sure why, I really wasn't awful) and we had never had those 'girly' mum to daughter chats or anything. I just didn't feel we had a close relationship. Being pregnant living at home (I was only 19 when I fell pregnant) definitely made a difference. I was young and nervous, and had no idea what to expect. She was great. Now we speak every day - couldn't do without her!

I had my booking appt this morning. MW was a bit miffed about me not having prefilled in the form (even though it's not my fault as OH wasn't told anything when he booked the appt so hadn't collected the form) and then I annoyed her by declining lots of things so I decided not to try to discuss my birth plan as it might have been a step too far. She did agree to doing ferritin when she took my bloods though (I asked because I was due FBC+ferritin anyway) and seems like she'll be okay - I think she was just thrown by having a non compliant patient.

I've read some of the forceps horror stories. I'd rather have the c-section. I may be in the minority there but the fact they have to cut you to do either makes me uncomfortable. It's partly due to fact that I'd worry it could impact badly on my bowel issues.

They don't have to cut you for the forceps, I wasn't cut when they tried it with me.

Regarding the bowel issues, one of the issues they discussed with me when decided to go for a VBAC or elective CS was the risk of bowel problems following a CS - probably something you should speak to your midwife about to get more information to make a decision and note it in your birth plan.

Lol! I can just imagine her face when you declined everything! :D

I told mine last week that if she couldn't fit the GTT in yesterday (whilst I was at hospital) then to forget it as I wasn't making two trips up to the hospital in one week. It's amazing how accommodating they can be when you say 'I WON'T do this' lmao! :rotfl:

Also - anything being shoved up me that is bigger than my opening physically makes me cross my legs! Thank god i'm having a C Section because I feel such a wuss about all the 'other' stuff they would be talking about otherwise!

Just watch OBEM, first time I've blubbed. I may be in the minority but I actually like Dean...I think its just the way he is and he obviously has fantastic relationship with his partner and the mother in law. I can see a bit of my OH in him...scarily....The other womans eyes scared me, and I may have slapped midwife for telling me to get a grip lol!!

I would still be unhappy with them using them, as much for the baby's sake as mine.

I know everything has to be weighed up -

What sort of delivery should I have?
In most cases, normal vaginal delivery is
perfectly all right. A caesarian section may
be suggested or recommended by your
medical team, particularly if you have severe
    disease or peri-anal Crohn’s. However, a
recent survey of some 500 women with IBD
in Wales found that a significant minority
    experienced ongoing faecal incontinence
after vaginal delivery. But further studies
are needed to confirm any risk with this type
    of delivery.

So I suppose at the end of the day it has to be what you're happy with personally as well. Everyone is different and all that. :)

If anyone is worried by lack of baby movements, I can strongly recommend Haribo Starmix! Most daytime movements ever had!!
